Looks/Sounds lovely Conaero, but does Carplay imply I need an Iphone? Or is that the operating system on the new head unit? I'm Definitely NOT an Mac guy, so am hoping this is not an obstacle.

I probably wouldn't bother with the camera so if there was an option to just have the overlay and associated gubbings that would be great.

It comes with the kit and the camera is a small dollar item so that will be down to the individual to fit or not. It will make the install much quicker.

Its a dual system...Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

There is cabling for it but I have not worked out how to put it on the head unit. The reverse works when you engage reverse and the camera comes straight up on the screen. For the front its possible, will just need to press a button, or more likely hit mode so it switches to AUX2 or something?
Does the unit have dedicated front and reverse camera inputs? You mention using Aux2 so I'd guess not. Without which the image from the front camera will be a mirror image. You would need an additional interface/switch to give correct orientation. Also solves the "how to" connect to the HU.

The other consideration is how to protect the lens at the front.

Ok great, with no front sensors and a really tight / steep drive that involves 2 people to park safely a front camera would be real plus. Look forward to pricing etc.

This all looks amazing when do you think you'll be shipping kits?

8 weeks. I’m just waiting for the touchscreen overlays to turn up so I can prove it to work. Once I’ve done this I’ll order 10 sets or however many are wanted. The touchscreens should have been here last week so they are late.

However, already had a flat battery. I have a trickle charger, but sometimes have to leave it at the airport when flying out for work. How long can it stand without a trickle change anyone know?

It depends how good your battery is to begin with. Should be fine for a few weeks IF the battery is in good health.

thank you again Felonious normally away no longer then a week, that's good to know.

Also, a lithium jump pack, they are the size of a pencil case, but can jump start a car. Good bad or not recommended?

I ask because my plan was to have a battery quick release, lock the doors and boot manually and then reconnect when I come back. However, was not sure if that would clear codes on the stereo etc. The jump pack idea above my be a solution.

The two touchscreen have turned up this morning. Well, one perfect, one cracked!

Annoying but I can still test fit this Wednesday so all going well I can start taking orders next week. I do have to finalise the price as so many separate parts ordered, import and duty payments and currency conversion.

If your battery isn't lasting a good 2 1/2 dare say 3 weeks my advice is to suck it up and buy a new battery.

I suffered from the same flat battery problems/weird dash failures/warnings/gremlins etc (and all this whilst having to utilise a trickle charger running from my house to street parking in London  ) which completely disappeared when I got a new battery. I drive my car once a week and then not more than a few miles and this past summer left it for 3 weeks; she starts every time on the button.

I bought the Bosch S5 AGM (019 Bosch AGM Stop Start Car Battery (S5A13) for use in my QP V. I'm not sure if the GT uses the same 019 length battery (but surely someone will be along to confirm either way). I paid £199 delivered.

I believe the AGM Stop Start batteries are good for these cars, especially for those of us who use our cars sporadically and for short distances as they are designed for this very purpose

also I don't think jumping is a good idea

Thank you so much for your reply, not sure if it lasts 2 to 3 weeks yet as I've only had the car 4 days.

This is all because, on the day of collection, the battery ran flat, I later found out the cleaners at the dealership accidentally turned on both heated seats and the parking light while valeting honest mistake. The car had power enough to lock and unlock but not to turnover.

However, I drove it back 2hr, and now it starts on the money, this was more of a be prepared question. so I don't suffer the same in the future.

I know I've said this before but I am blown away with everyone's support on this forum. Still don't know how to create a discussion room but sure will work it out one day.
