A better race than expected after a lot of drivers complained, but a few changes, safety and surface required. Another great drive by Max, more consistent than Leclerc. It is clear Leclerc and Max are slogging it out and their team mates are not quite there. Hamilton doesn’t seem to be a happy chappy at the moment, he needs to snap out of it if he wants to finish ahead of Russell.

Didn’t really enjoy the race that much …..Yes at the end a bit of drama but other than that terrible track as most new ones seem to be.

It was a pretty boring race. Most overtakes were due to mistakes, or DRS, and DRS of course, as usual basically promotes the faster (in a straight line) car to the front.
There is always an element of DRS makes overtakes, and if it wasn't there, it'd be a procession, but that felt like a procession anyway, and of course also had the false overtaking in there.

The safety car brought LeClerc alive, but of course DRS doesn't help so much when your car is close to 10mph slower in the first place, he was barely making 2-3ths up on that massive straight with DRS. Can't decide if LeClerc making mistakes is down to him pushing to hard, or just not having the experience. Ferrari should have stuck fresh tyres on, but probably had Imola in their minds.

Perez really should have made the podium at least, all that talk of him having a problem wasn't evident in the speed traps once he'd fallen out of DRS, where he was equalling Max's speeds, except in sector 1 where he was a couple of mph down.

Sainz did well to... finish.

Great race by Mick Schumacher running 9th until he binned it, and Russell is a class act, though of course strategy helped him out a lot.

The track looked interesting, and I think did well to deliver something that felt like an F1 circuit rather than a car park, but failed to deliver a good race.

This is a must see for an F1 fan. 40 years after he died thinking about Gilles Villeneuve still gets the adrenaline going. I saw him drive on 3 wheels and sparks galore at Zandvoort. That glorious boxer (flat) 12 cylinder in the Ferrari 312 - to me one of the iconic F1 cars, especially the T4 and T5 versions. When F1 was still a bit crazy and political correctness didn't exist. When drivers said what they thought and showed what they felt, unabashed. I guess with their lives on the scales every time they strapped in they had to live in the moment. Enjoy:

Omg, this is so frustrating!

Literally taking away the only exciting thing that ever happens at Monaco!
Just get on with it and let them earn their money.

That was an interesting race with a well deserved winner. What’s new, Ferrari messing up a strategy. It seems every time they have a good car either the driver or the team mess up and the competition take the spoils. Hamilton must be getting very frustrated with Russell continuing to beat him and I feel for Ricciardo, he seems to be on a slippery slope.

I am very surprised that both Red Bulls didn’t get a penalty for crossing the pit exit yellow line. Seen penalties before for this and the rules are clear on this one. See Ferrari has challenged this after the race.

Never thought Ricciardo was right for McLaren and still don’t. But yes he could be heading to a German Touring Car race soon ;-)

Red Bulls were clearly over the yellow line on pit exit, especially Max as he almost impeded a car on the track

Yes it was pretty obvious. Wonder why they didn’t do anything at the time ? Feels like another rule to only use when it suits maybe.

It was bad news for Ferrari that race. It was a very slow corner centric track which suited the Ferrari. Next up are some power circuits which should suit the RB more (Azerbijan, Canada and Silverstone)

Both cases were referred to the stewards. They came to the conclusion that no rules were broken so I’m not sure what the complaint is?

Ferrari protested because they wanted clarification as the new race director‘s notes were not consistent with the rules. It appeared that he did a cut and paste of the 2021 rules which were amended for 2022. His notes, which stated you couldn’t be over the line, were in contravention of the rules which state you may not cross the line (meaning the complete tyre is over the line), hence the “confusion” which Ferrari obviously tried to exploit given their situation. Who wouldn’t…

Very clear from the footage we saw from Max’s car. I know as Italian TV played it about 50 times.
I’ve seen the footage from Max’s car as well, it is from the side of cockpit so you can’t actually see where the wheel touches the road. You would have to see the inside of the wheel, as the wheel/tyre must be completely over the line for It to be a penalty. Unless you have seen different footage of course….

This is the last image where you can see part of the line what looks to be only a few meters of line left. The wheel is still well inside the line. Now you need to take into account that the camera is mounted inboard so there is an angle at play, there is more room between the line and the outside of his wheel (let alone the inside of his wheel) at road level than what you see here. I’m sure the stewards would have given him a penalty if it was obvious that his whole wheel had completely crossed the yellow line don’t you think?

Indy500 was spectacular last night - didn't particularly enjoy seeing Ericson win it but it was entertaining throughout.

Ex-F1 back marker wins Indy. Reminds me of a 29yo US football player saying that he had a better season than the 37yo Ibrahamovic. Ibrahamovic retorted, when I was 29 I was winning in Europe.!

US racing is big money but the talent isn't all there, same goes for two wheels nowadays too, sadly.
