New BMW and it's straining to get your attention

Time to bring this (unfortunate) thread back...sorry.

So this is the BMW iX BEV. What are they doing? Why have a big grille when a BEV does not need a grille? At least Tesla understands this and dumped it's grilles a few years back.

I still can't get over how much I have loved this brand in the past but they are so off message with what I want which is so sad. Customer focus groups? Maybe it is targeted at sub 40 year olds with lots of facial enhancements but are there enough of those?

Agree buddy…Had five E46 over the years with different size engines and everyone has been fun with bags of character that the new ones can emulate.

I have one of them, forgot to tell the Mrs there was no spare but she found out today when she got a puncture, Mr K you weren't popular ;)

I’ve still got 2 BMs, the Shed - an E46 320D estate with 340k - and an F10 335D X-drive. Both are good cars and do a decent job of getting me about but the E46, even for a German car, has character. I certainly won’t be buying anything newer from BM, only the Z4 does anything for me but my Jaaag does more.

My old e46 320d Touring was built like a tank, in comparison to the e90 whatever version 320d I had afterwards, that snapped its timing chain driving up the M1.

BREAKING NEWS.
BMW designers move to Skoda after complaints their grilles were just too small.

Good one. I can't get over why a BEV needs a grill in the first place. Also with half of Europe having to switch coal pwoer stations back on the CO2 is a tad more than zero.

PS What is the point of a coupe SUV?

Suspect it will just become a model in their range (like those with M Sport packs)

The new 7 series has been announced. They must know the nose is not a looker...launched in black. God help us:

I know that BMW is not that popular a brand for many on here but I've had some great sports coupes/saloons from them over the last 25 years. It is just so sad to see them now reduced to making rubbish like this the new '2022 2 series active tourer'. No idea what that means!

If ever a brand needed to a sub brand to focus on the mundane then this is it. I recently thought about ordering an M4 when I was out shopping but the front grill and the downwards brand extension into rubbish like this put me off. BMW is a success but it is not a brand I admire anymore.

I know im getting old and a bit worn in the tooth now , but I could have sworn I saw James May promoting something similar on Top Guns some years back, called it a Dacia Sombrero  Hats off to them

It is fecking horrid as is all those new BMW’s with the massive grills. The worse thing about the seven is that you can have the grill with a light surround so you can now fecking see that awful grill in the fecking dark as well as the day time.

Missed this post, so sad, but also with everything now going electric and Alpina being engine tuners, makes sense for the private owners to bale out!

Chris Bangle was to blame for the change in their design direction years ago to hideous and ugly.
I still have an E46 which I rate as the peak of their designs, both interior and exterior.
Here is mine captured in a favourable light.

Engineered beautifully , but reeeeeeeally designed beautifully i think not ...........reminds me of an 80's variation of the ford sierra jelly mould IMHO that is
