Yep thats how my 4200s and GS have been if one rear wheel is still on the ground.

Like others have said sounds more like handbrake rear shoes/mech.

Pretty naff design and got stuck on my QP but luckily freed with no damage. Never use the handbrake any more and just leave it in the opposite gear to how it sits.

At the bottom of the rear discs is a hole to pop a flat blade it to adjust tension. Maybe loosening off may help in short term.

Not too much work to take off rear discs. Might be able to see round the back inside with torch and camera to see if mech is in place or dislodged and out of place.

Thanks all... have decided, given the fact I’m meant to be on the ferry from Portsmouth at 9 in the morning, which means leaving home at 6, to take a bit of a punt and take the Gransport.

As I’ve said, I drove it around the block once it had freed up, and to drive there is no discernible difference. I really hope I don’t regret this decision.:as003:

I’m guessing this is what they call Italian character!

P.s. many thanks for the incredibly helpful responses. Another great example of what makes this forum so great!

Good luck.... I'm sure it will be fine. Just make sure you don't use the handbrake!

Enjoy the trip and the GS

Have a great trip. Bloody stupid handbrake design. It is meant to be used only to get you though an MOT

glad all sorted, have a great time and I'm sure the GS will make it a great drive.

suggestion for when your back - I use this wheel choke (on rear wheel) with hand brake off when parked at home and in gear (which I still not sure I understand why)

Now back.... car didn’t let me down, but is not right... can’t decide whether I think the handbrake is stuck on just a little bit, or if the wheel bearings or bushes are on the way out. Either way, whilst it was fun on the twisty roads, it wasn’t all that nice to drive above 95ish as it had a slight shudder at high speed. It also felt like it was revving harder than it would normally at any speed.

Time I think to book it into Emblem....

Linings maybe got stuck a bit. The offending wheel would feel warmer. Hopefully no great damage done, and as you said it made the trip :)
