I’ve just ordered a set of 4 Michelin Pilot 4S.... it was between these and the Continental SportContact 6 as the only two where I could get all 4 tyres the same..l

Ooodles of stick Jon, I'm chuffed with mine all round now. Hope you can get something for the pair you got on the hurry up last week!

I got some PS4s about 3 weeks ago, only 150 miles or so but seem fine and a bit quieter and more compliant than the Pirellis they replaced (though that could be as the old ones were 6 years old and cracking).

Prices seem good on these at the moment, last year I paid over £700 for a set on the wife's Z4M but these were £605 from Protyre - Kwik Fit were £20 more but with a free dashcam.

That is a great price - I thought I’d done rather well to get all 4 for £620 (due to a 10% discount)

Actually, your FD wheels aren't identical in size. The standard fronts are 8" wide and the rears are 9.5" wide. FD increase both by half an inch to 8.5" and 10".
As a result they recommend that 245 instead of 235 can be used on the front, and 275 instead of 265 on the rear.
The above applies for both 18" or 19" wheels.
Regarding aspect ratios you need to stick to the OEM, being 35/30 for 19" wheels and 40/35 for the 18" wheels.
:)
Ah... didn’t realise they were wider... ta for that info.
By aspect ratios, do you mean gearing? So I should be looking at the GS oem profiles to keep gearing the same?

Edit:
Another question I suppose, is if I fit bigger wheels / higher profiles, this will affect my speedo? Anyone know if this is significant or negligible?

Anyone got any experience of Yokohama’s? They used to be fantastic but made from chewing gum. Haven’t heard about them in recent years but they seem a good price?

I think Beau put them on his one but then he slammed it and never drove it over 20mph!

Yoko's are still good race and track day tires but not for road use

Has anyone tried the latest spec Falken tires lately, I have the older versions on the front of my 3200GT,there still pretty good!

I've got Advan Sport V105s on mine, they're much better than the Pirellis which came off. Good grip and nice feel, the only downside is in the winter, they feel a little indirect when it's cold but still perfectly acceptable.

The AD08R and A052 are semi-slicks (road legal trackday / competition tyres) would be ideal if you only use the car in the summer.

Cheers,

Mytyres are included in the 15% eBay promo at the moment.
For example, albeit for a 4200 & not GS, a set of Michelin PS4 can be had for less than £480 delivered.

I think lots of folks have had worse mixtures between axles.

It seems there is very little to call between the two types around 1% in objective testing.
