All

I’ve decided, following some recent fun and games, that I’m going to buy 4 new tyres for my Gransport ahead of my LeMans trip...

My inclination is to buy Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s. However, would be interested in what others would recommend...

Thoughts?

Yup go with the goodyears... I thought they are up to asymmetric 5 now I saw them on blackcircles the other day

My car is on Bridgestone potenzas which is what it came on and I have not been compelled to change them they are pretty grippy once up to temp.. i think once the rears go I will change to goodyear

I was looking at Goodyears recently but couldn't find the same tyre in different sizes (front and rear) so interested to hear how you get on.

I struggled with obtaining the correct sizes so I recently purchased 4 pilot sport 4s and after the awful pzero I am very happy with them. Can’t comment on the other options, but the Goodyear’s are heavily recommended as well .

Thanks...

My fronts were 235/35 R19 and rears were 235/65 R19.... I need to start doing some shopping.

PS4Ss tend to knock the spots off all others tyres in multiple conditions, Jon. They’d get my vote purely on the basis of reviews and popular support here. I’ll be contacting Newton’s chums at Elite for a quote.

edit: after looking on tyreviews (link here), I've learned that Conti Sport 6s tend to out-perform the PS4Ss in most tests. See my later post on this thread for a link.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S for sure; John I think you have the wrong size listed for the rears mate, should be 265/30 R19

Insist on batch matched pairs too.

You’re not wrong. Rears are 265/30 R19s. Will look into Michelins. Thanks

I concur about the PS4S being the current best tyre. Got them in the Alfa and very impressed. Got Pilot Super Sports on the 4200 and they are great but think the PS4S is the almost direct replacement.

The PS4 are.good as.well and a bit cheaper. Also Eagle F1 is also a good recommended tyre. Depends on price I guess but PS4S would get my vote if numbers are similar.

I think the PSS is not so good in the rain though but my 4200 never goes out in the rain so not an issue for me.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 4 =>best on dry pavement (also on wet)

Michelin PS4=> better on wet pavement (also on wet)

Thanks; I was trying to finish them on that run without upsetting the venue management!

I have Michelin pilot super sports on mine. They're fantastic. The ps4's will be a bit better in the wet but a bit less grippy in the dry.
Shop around the options and see what you fancy.

Michelin Pilot Supersports all round my GS. Not the quietest tyre on the move but absolutely superb for grip in the dry. The car has more grip than I would dare to use on public roads and when a safe opportunity presents itself I do like to push on a bit.

My car is dry use only unless I get caught in a shower so only used them a handful of times in the wet. Performance seemed fine but it wasn't difficult to spin up the rears, although I suppose that would be true of any tyre on a 400bhp rear drive car!
