As this is supposed to be a car forum, I thought I would try to get it back on track a bit. I do as much maintenance to all my vehicles as I can myself. This is all part of the enjoyment of car ownership for me, not just a money saving exercise (though it helps). Last winter I did a complete brake overhaul, involving new discs, pads, flexible brake lines, hard brake lines, handbrake shoes and cables, and stripped and rebuilt the suspension so that there are no seized fixings, and also installed a new radiator as I found a drip from the old one when I removed the undertray.
This year, so far I have changed the gearbox oil, engine oil and filter, and a new Hill engineering 'H' gate on the reverse selector. Yesterday I removed the rear bumper, for several reasons, firstly the mesh centre section had come adrift in one corner, have now removed this completely and will re attach once all the tar spots have been cleaned, and everything given a good polish, 2nd reason is that the spare wheel heat shield was rattling around, because I discovered one of the fixing tabs has broken off, suggestions on how to repair this welcomed. The other reason is that when Emblem inspected the car, they said the F1 pump sounds laboured, so on reading various pieces on how the pump is usually ok,and it's the motor at fault, I have purchased direct from Italy a new motor, and am going to have a go at replacing it in situ, haven't really looked at it yet, but will update you as I progress.
