Your on a mission from God.
There are 106 miles plus to Chicago.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes.
It will be dark (so you can get away with a Corsa), just wear sunglasses.

Hit it!!!

Mrs H is also a petrol head (she took her motorbike test because she hated being on the back of my bike) and has always had a passion for cars.

Interestingly, she has booked us to see Back to the Future at Warwick Castle as has not booked our 'nice' cars - her logic being "you will spill beer and drop popcorn!" and then be ** off the whole film. Clever girl :)

Interesting, at least there was some rationale - in the case of Mrs Scaf she simply doesent see what difference it makes !

Mrs H also suggested that we may be parked on grass and, if it rains, we would have fun getting the rear wheel drive cars out

Mrs MarkMas used to care nothing about cars, buying a 3-year old Volvo (850, V70, V50) every 3 years for the past 30 years. But I finally got her to buy an old C70 (the tin-top convertible) and she is obsessed with her 'open-top sports car'.

Tried to get her to buy this, from @dickygrace , but no luck...

Sadly most of the population do not get cars... hence why we have so many bland and revolting euro boxes with all the autonomy driving aids.

Another 10 years and you will not be able to insure a car thats not driven via a computer without paying through the nose.

You may as just have an Uber by then.

thats a point, but there is no way we are going in her car, in any event I find married life easier if I lay off the booze and she gets tipsy :p

I think you have to buy and fit for her a loud go faster corsa exhaust ....................sort of drop a hint :saifi:

She has literally no interest, has not got a problem with me having what I want / we can afford, but even during lockdown I have given her the opportunity to change / upgrade but she sees no point....... and said no, happy with the Corsa.
Exactly the same here. No interest in cars whatsoever. Over the years I have amassed a little fleet worth about £3M pre Coronavirus (most of that Is the DB4 GT short chassis race car I bought in the 80’s for much much less). Despite many offers, she refuses to drive most of them ( sometimes takes the Cayenne if forced to when hers is being serviced etc) and wants to stick with her 14 year old BMW 523i with > 120k on the clock worth about £1k. In her defence, she is right when she says we can go anywhere and park it anywhere and I don’t spend all my time spoiling our time out fretting if it will get damaged or nicked, and if she gets a dent in it when out, I just shrug as opposed to have a seizure!

She didn’t marry me for my looks either, so it’s nice to know that there must be a more altruistic reason!

When we first met, her indoors was a bit of a biker chick but despite having a few lessons she has never passed her driving test, so I've been the designated chauffuer for the past thirty two years. We've always had old Minis and she loves them, knows plenty about them and can spot a fake Cooper S at ten paces. There are quite a number of other classics round here which she points out when we see them but I went through a phase of owning Rover P5 and P6 V8s which she took the **** out of mercilessly, ''old fart's cars'' she called them! She knows how much I want a Maser though, she likes the QPV and current Ghibli and says I'm obsessed with Italian cars...... can't think why.... ;)

So... Mrs Dr Houx, what first attracted you to the potential future millionaire Mr Dr Houx? :)
Eb

Well done!
The old Mrs Merton quote to Debbie McGee eh?

I’m pleased to say when the current Mrs Houx met me, I was divorcing her predecessor and she took the house and most of my other material possessions save some pensions and the DB4 , and day to day we were back to renting and not a pot to p..s in! We’ve got where we are today together, so she is as entitled to the proceeds just as much as me.

Mrs Crud couldn't give a stuff about cars, as long as they're comfortable, warm, not too fast and not too expensive.

In other ways, we're remarkably compatible.

Mods: please can you change my name to Mrs Houx, which is potentially a far more lucrative alter-ego than Mr Crud. The occasional thrash in a DB4 would be nice, and the chance to channel my inner Bill Whyman with some top-class chat-up line would be superb: Je suis un rock star, j'avais un residence, je habiter la, a la south of France, voulez vouz.., etc.

Not only the French place in Provence but I even play bass in a band just like Bill! That’s me on the left. Best laugh I’ve had in ages Mr Crud! 70989

Rock 'n' roll, baby!

But there's a pandemic
So BA's not flying
In fact, there's no planes flying
I can rent a motorbike
At least I'm trying

Rolling back the many years to meeting Jeanette: All tits and eager to please and a wannabee biker chick! I was sold and spent months teaching her to ride a bike and she rapidly passed her test and over the following few years got through a succession of bikes up to the ZX10-R which was a true beast of a machine. I in the meantime had bikes and cars (and pick up truck). Some of these were Italian and when kids came alone the Italian thing continued albeit with sheds like an Uno 1,000 followed by a Fiat Rigatta! The Rigatta wasn't all bad as it was new, a big saloon with four doors and being a 'post production' car was basically a parts bin build! It was 'interesting' to buy parts for and had a few tweaks that Luigi had built into it... Anyway at this point Jeanette miraculously passed her car test and proceeded to knock every corner off the Rigatta and the next three vehicles as she tried to fit them in bike sized gaps! As the family grew so did the cars into a Fiat Ulysses (truly awful thing) and then a Kia Sedona. About this time she finally got the gist of knowing where the corners were! We went back to a small car for the family (crazy with five kids) and just took two if we were all going somewhere, the void was filled with a Mk1 Discovery and then the Van with rear seats and then the Maserati came along. What is amazing is that when four years ago she got to choose any car as a lease vehicle, she went Italian with the Alfa, it got nicked and she replaced it with an Alfa, it went back and she replaced it with an Alfa and finally when the lease was up she bought another new Alfa... Safe to say she gets the whole Italian thing!
