My Maser on track!

Had a fantastic day today at Blyton Park, the weather could not have been nicer, a bit too hot if anything!
I booked two slots of 30 minutes with an instructor, money well spent. At first I was being too aggressive in too low a gear, not getting my lines right, but after I let him drive me to show me how it should be done for a few laps, it all came together. It was enlightening having a professional drive me around in my car, the cornering speeds he achieved where far higher than anything I will ever achieve!
It was also interesting that the thought the gear change was incredibly fast and firm, which was a surprising, and welcome comment!
Okay it does tend to lean quite a lot on the twisties, but it never unstuck itself, and those that where following me stated that I was uncatchable on the exit of a bend, the pickup and acceleration left my friend following in his 997 Carrera S lagging behind.
I did 54 track miles....and averaged 7.1 mpg!
Even if you only go on track once, it is after all not really a track car, it will open your eyes to how she can perform, in a safe controlled environment. On that note I can recommend Javelin Track Days to anyone.
Cheers!

Sounds like you had a great day!

The next time I do a new track I'm going to get some tuition I think. I tend to just follow other cars for a few laps and then make it up as I go along, so no doubt I'm making loads of errors that way.

It's quite a long way for me unfortunately, it would be over a 500 miles round trip with the track miles :-(
