In my 4200 CC manual i have a page that states that if i were to press the down shift paddle in first intil i hear a beep, the car will go into a slow mode for less jerky parking.
I have held it for several seconds and i get a beep but the CC warning light flashes once then the car just seems to be as always, jerky at low revs.
Am i doing it all wrong?

Me neither , and to be honest never ever read the manuals and i have two of them , never had a problem feathering for parking either forwards or reverse , if i did , the car would be down at emblem and i'd be getting the kis point reset

well as we all know my Kis point is somewhat out at 8mm but they say it will Fook up the wear reading if its reset.
Wonder if they can reset it and if it does then just resett it back?

Yes the original CC (2202/3) did have a "pull-down" mode on the system for parking. It feathered the clutch more for softer low-speed engagement.
Later software did not have this - and the "hill-start" system was introduced where the brakes are kept on for a moment to let you get on the throttle in first.
None of the systems are ideal!

Sounds like you have 'up-dated' softwear as my late 4200 03 is the same...I tried the exact same and got the same result...fault light and a bleep.

I'll be seeing the 4200 for the first time in 3 weeks on sat ,its all done and sparkly again so they tell me , i'll check to see if it works on that being an early car

I think the changes seem logical. I drove a 2002 CC and this had the early control logic for the gear changes and you had to pay attention else the passengers kept getting surprised when you changed gear - nice little kick in the ****. But in my 2004 model the change is smooth but more dynamic in sport mode - feels like the clutch just engages more slowly. So I guess that with smoothing out the clutch control this made parking no real hassle whereas in the 2002 models it may have been a bit harder to apply a small amount of gas hence the special parking mode being of use???
