My car gives jerks at high rpm.

My car gives jerks at high revs. My mechanic told me that it may be because there is waste in the gas tank. and that the fuel filter and can clog.

When I read the title my first thought was how I missed that on the options list. Sounds more like an optional extra that Rolls Royce would offer, probably administered by an elderly retainer.

Always worth checking for vacuum leaks

The air box sheered it's mounts on my 4200 causing a small vacuum leak on the intake

It did not have a hunting idle but rather a momentary loss of power at 5k rpm causing the car to jerk slightly and it occasionally stalled when pulling up a junction.

That's only happen if the misfire gets bad beyond a certain level.
