MSR / ASR / ABS

So I’ve had the ABS unavailable come up in the past, car off and on and clears.

Driven 6 hours tonight and ABS / ASR and MSR came up. Wouldn’t clear after shutting the car down.

She drove completely fine, the only symptom was that if I put handbrake on, when I flicked into 1st it went into gear but then I had to manually release the brake.

She’s in the garage now and I’m fairly confident I get in tomorrow and she’ll be back to normal.

However ..... what’s the potential culprits here please folks as I might fire it up to my local garage to take a look.

Cheers

Is it just on one of the hubs / corners?

Im no ABS expert this a knackered wheel sensor or something that’s integral to the hub?

No guarantee it is that (it normally is in most cases). Don't want you throwing 600quid plus fitting listening to me. :thumb3: Plug it in first to check.

Yeah I’ll definitely get it plugged in. Will get it booked in in the coming weeks for a check out

It is as others have said the ABS sensor in the hub but you have to replace the hub itself to fix.

You will also find that you have no hill hold when the fault abs/msr fault shows on the dash.

You can drive it and it wont do any harm. Just be aware the abs msr and hill hold will not function.

Early signs of wear will manifest as the abs msr light coming on and then clearing after a restart. You will then find either when you go round a corner that loads up the faulty side or hit a bump on that side the fault lights will come on again more and more often. Eventually it will stay on all the time.

It only takes a small amount of play in the hub bearing for the ABS sensor to throw a hissy fit.

Big thanks for that informative feedback much appreciated.
Questions, is there a sensor in both front wheels or just one side that would be identified by plugging in?

Was wondering can I change this out myself if it’s just wheel off and bolts or is there more to it than that?
