After reading that MSP can come up on the dash if the ABS sensors/bearings are giving trouble, I have assumed that switching MSP off doesnt in fact disengage ABS..

Can someone cofirm ABS is permanent..? ( facelift 4200 manual )

Grtzzz..!

Think if you have ABS it's not an option to turn it off. Otherwise folks would be turning off failed ABS systems just for MOT and turning it again after.....

MSP uses the ABS sensors to determine individual wheel speeds and then compares them to work out if one is slipping, hence if one fails MSP is disabled.

I’m not sure if regulation would allow you to turn off ABS. It was switchable on UR Audi Quattros and you can do it on certain bikes but I’ve not seen it on a modern car even track focused ones.

Its switchable on bikes Ive had/ridden too..just not too foucussed as to year of manufacture..!
The EU certainly pushed for compelling ABS on all bikes . None of mine have it though . The newest MY2014/15 ( The EU was pushing for zero mod tolerance though too.To include banning fitting of non OEM tyres...crazy fools !)

I think i detected the ABS was doing its (interfering) thing when MSP was off too...So that answers that one !
It follows that if it's required at MOT, then it wont be switchable I suppose...? Did cars have mandatory ABS a longtime ago ? o_O

I switch off MSP at track and not feel at all ABS kicking in, nor EDS. Man, never enjoyed as near that 400HP before. Took me few laps to get used to it and never got back after. Soon will have DBW so will need to recalibrate my skills, if I can. FD Springs and sway bar for sure will help.

It could be very dangerous on roads where traction is not even (more dusty side for example). You would find yourself instantly on the wrong side. You could find many "exotic car accidents" on YouTube when driver wants to show off with wheel spin at launch on regular road and ends up badly. Some sad examples (sad just for the cars obviously, not the idiot drivers of course) :

Would it not seem plausible that vehicles fitted with abs must have the system tested as functional at MOT, regardless of whether it is switchable or not. So switching off a faulty system wouldn’t necessarily work for you...
I am asking specifically about the abs...if anybody knows for sure...!

You cannot switch it off, short of unplugging it.

To be honest I can count the number of ABS interventions on my GS on one hand, the brakes aren’t quite good enough.

To be fair, unlike the MSP, the ABS isn’t very intrusive, in my view anyway.

MSP is quite intrusive indeed - annoying until you find yourself wishing it had stepped in !

Thanks for the confirmation Zep...! :)
