I have left this thread alone so that you boys can thrash it out as I have little value add other than pointing out that Wattie is wrong, however, this is hardly a revelation for most long serving forum victims ;)

Anyway until I saw the photos today I had forgotten that Putin is a short ****. The question is if he was 6’2’’ would he have started a war? Any chance of a poll (insert joke here Ulsterman at Home if you wish) to sort this one out?

This Instagram account is showing some pretty intense footage from the Iran protests. https://instagram.com/samanism?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I don't think this is comparable to the protests in Russia... There are tens of thousands of people on the street in some of the videos access multiple cities and they are fighting the authorities off. There has been mass strikes in solidarity which will be strangling the government.

saw a pic today of a solitary young woman in a graveyard, where her mother was buried after being killed in a protest...head not only uncovered, but holding the hair she had cut from her own head, staring defiantly at the camera. Attacking people can have the tendency to radicalize them...

What a **** show.just left to be surrounded.
Let’s hope if they agree to let them leave with safe passage they treat them better than the Russians did when they shelled the pow they granted safe passage to from crimea.

As the Ukrainians are advancing they're found several civilians dead in their cars, shot by retreating Russian soldiers.

Was just catching up with latest...one of the more interesting things I saw (but haven't unpacked) is the idea that of all the RUS folks who have fled their homeland...and now have, ostensibly, the ability to speak freely...there have not been widespread disavowals from those quarters for Putin or the invasion.

Again, I have almost zero social media awareness, so this may not be true. But it's an interesting enough "take," I think...

Only 3 months ago, Russian propaganda was claiming that the Crimea bridge was impossible to attack because of 20 different modes of protection covering it, including military dolphins!

Crimea river… may it was Russian dolphins who didn’t do it on porpoise?

We all want the Ukrainians to win and send the Russians back across the boarder, the hit on the bridge has to be a fantastic moral boost.

But I can’t help feeling very uneasy about “the little man’s” next move.
The bridge explosion is Ukraine's Dambuster moment. A significant raid on critical infrastructure which will not cause overall victory but will tie up resources in repairs and future security. Russian civilians will think twice about crossing it in future.

China and India have warned him about the use of nuclear weapons. Also there's a lot of checks and balances to be justified within the Russian forces before they can be used. The Regular Russian forces have control of them and they are relatively level headed. It's the irregular military such as Wagner and Kadyrov, (the Siloviki) who have called for more extreme measures along with some military bloggers, who have blamed the MOD and some Putin for the failures.
There's clear tension internally in Russia. Meanwhile, Ukraine makes progress in recapturing land and settlements in both Eastern and Southern fronts.

Just read the daily ISW report and the most sickening thing about this war is the transportation of children away from their parents.

From the ISW report :

Russian and occupation administration officials continued measures to remove Ukrainian children from their homes in Russian-occupied territories on October 8. The Head of the Kherson Occupation Administration Vladimir Saldo reported that Russian-occupied Crimea agreed to take over 5,000 children from Kherson Oblast “on vacation” and that 1,500 of those children have already arrived in Crimea.[82] Vladimir Saldo also announced that the governors of Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai stated that their administrations are ready to accept up to 10,000 children from Kherson Oblast. Saldo did not specify a duration for such offers or “vacations.”[83] Vladimir Saldo stated that the children’s parents would be able to join their children in the territories to which they are sent.[84]

[84] refers to this telegram link

And translation says.

‼️Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory and Crimea are ready to accept children with their parents from the Kherson region
“Governors from the Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory have already begun to call. They are ready to accept children from our regions. The same opportunity is provided for adults. Also in the Crimea. Up to 10,000 each region and territory are ready to accept,” said Acting Governor Vladimir Saldo.

Looking at the rhetoric coming from Belarus they are paving the way to engineer an entry into this conflict. Exactly what Putin wants as I believe that may bring forward a NATO reaction. Possibly from Poland. I can only imagine the Belarusian armed forces are comparably as poor as conscripted Russian forces. As they’re mostly also conscripted for an 18month period.

Multiple reports that allege that Elon Musk spoke to Putler before running ridiculous interference for Russia in Musk’s ‘peace proposal’ to Ukraine over Crimea.

Even before this. I regarded Musk as a genius and the world’s biggest @55hole. But if this is true, then he is not just an @55hole but a total ***t as well.

I find it pretty astonishing that anyone criticize anyone advocating “peace negotiations”.

No one wins in war.

Peace negotiations that amount to appeasement. Yes, that went very well in 1939.
Another conservative feck up- just saying.

I’d also point out that they’re already at war and if one isn’t negotiated we might all find bombs dropping in our own back yards.

No thanks, so get around a table.

Not likely, Putain hasn't got the balls, the will of the people or generals or even the ammunition.

Slava Ukraini.

Press on supplying Ukraine, training and weapons.
