Except there is no such thing as a trade sale if your a dealer, even if you are a famously dubious one! selling to the public... sale of goods still applies... I forget what legislation they are breaking in even printing that phrase...

But Pheaton = cool!

Keep lurking on here as after a qp GTS in the new year but just bought a e38 728 as a stopgap whilst main car in with electrical issues
Such a nice place to sit on the motorway, and the 728 appears to do mid thirty mpg at motorway speeds

Exactly the sort of thing I am looking for

It's Liz's daily drive for the last 4 years Andy. Never let us down in that time but she needs some TLC now after 17 years (car that is not Liz) Engine is strong and as I said has never missed a beat and was MOT 23rd Sept with no advisory which amazed me for a 17 year old car. Bodywork wise there is rust on the rear arches a dent on the top of the boot and a dent on the front wing which was there when she bought it. Wheels need a re-fury but never seen the point as its not worth paying to have them done when the car is not worth much...tyres are all good though.

Assuming go for 1) What do I replace the GT with? My personal fave currently is a Jag XF. Whatever suggested needs to be:
Fast (at least in a straight line)
Pretty imposing
Not so bad on the running costs
ComfortableC

Fast in a straight line , check
Comfortable , check
Not so bad on the running costs X
Pretty Imposing , oh yes

It's a bit over budget but let's face it , there's not going to be any bids so a deal to be done

OK. It's almost certainly been asked before, and I doubt I'll get clarity but here goes:

Looks like I'll be hammering up and down to Nottingham rather more than I anticipated. It's only 125 miles each way but the traffic can be rubbish and we're looking at 2h30m each way. Without traffic. Thursday / Friday was 5.5h in the car. Add a trip to Luton today and it's more like 7 hours driving in 3 days.

Apart from anything else the fuel costs are distinctly unpleasant.

My target is still to be in an MC or Strad before August 2020.

If I'm honest I'm not going to do anything until I know what my new package (oooerr) is but I see a few options:

1) Re-spray and fettle the GT and sell (roughly 18k) to clear the finance an buy something cheaper
2) Plough money into the GT and run it into the ground.
3) Anything?

QPV fits 1 and 2, and maybe 4
Audi perhaps?
Not massively keen on BMW or Mercs but...

I throw myself on the mercy of the forum.

All sorts of stuff at the next Historics auction. How about a 4lt W8 VW Passat, with 4 wheel drive, full leather, etc. Only 40k miles, and likely to go for what, £4K?

I love the fuel consumptions quoted as its really hard to get them long term with mixed driving as I'm finding.
Yes these modern diesels are rapid and very quite indeed especially the straight and V6 motors but they make you want to drive them which is better for the car but kills the economy.
Just my experience over the last months driving the Jag XF 3.0 D which has given me 35 mpg.
I'm still smitten although I miss the Range Rover Vogue I had in NZ as I liked the visibility.
