Well it has been up on the lift for several months and the MOT ran out earlier in the year so today’s announcement wouldn’t help.

Fresh MOT on the 4200GT, Friday, great.

Things of note, which I had noticed but thought I would ask.
Brakes do lack feel, but they still work bloody well, hows does everyone feel? Have read that this is the general consensus

Steering judder, At road speeds all feels fine but parking speeds on greater lock it does judder, garage said either pump, or rack. Fluid level is good, any thing else I can do?

Read a few threads saying they all do it, down to the LSD, what does everyone thing?

Only think I could test is jack up front of car and steer, see how it feels?

Probably wont get to drive the thing for a few months now

Thanks for people advice, It did have brake and clutch fluid change at same time as MOT.
The tyres, could not find a date stamp on them, but could be a few years old as last owner was doing less than 400 miles a year for many many years, they are Goodyear Eagle F1.
Stearing fluid level has stayed the same over last 6 months.
Think I'll get my son to steer it and i can stck my head under the bonnet to see if i can hear any unusual noises.

You only have an extension if it is due on or after the 30th March.

I get a bit of judder when moving under lock because the steering angle on my drive causes the inside tyre drag across the surface. Doesn’t happen on other surfaces so if it only happens in one place try a different surface.

I cant see the LSD having much influence on your experience here TBH. Its too far removed form the steering end; and usually results in a scrubbing of one wheel on the back axle ...

The brakes, whilst you say they work bl00dy well, might be improved some; and their exact characteristics depend on the fluid being in good condition and bled proficiently. To all intents and purposes, it sounds like you are confident that these boxes are ticked.
Further, the condition of the discs and the pads will have their part to play. Many people report that the OEM pads are, well, wooden! EBC Yellowstuff, whilst messy, might help with feel and feedback. People also have reported anecdotally that they prefer the Ferodo DS2500 range further still..
My experience is the brakes are difficult to modulate..Stamp on them and they will work. Trail brake though and they get difficult to control IMO. Yield pressure and nothing happens. Yield more pedal and they appear to reliquish little of their hold on the discs ( read none!)..yield a tad more, searching for that slight reduction of braking power and they let go all of a sudden...Such has been my experience with them anyway.
Ive recently replaced all discs, serviced the calipers with new seals and oil, and changed to Ferodo pads...Its not hard to feel the improvement TBH.
Regarding EBC Yellowstuff - I was initially very happy with the improved feel and bite they offered. Before I changed the discs, the fronts were noticeably worn without being toast...but this improved feel , which seemed to bed in very quickly, was gone after a hundred odd miles...! Time to roll up the sleeves and get it done.....
Im not sure what to make of the calipers. I know a friend runs the same units on his TVR and claims they are great. 'Dont bother with race pads. Brembo are great' etc etc...Yes, Brembo are good. I have them on a few bikes. Top gear. That's not mine, or many SM'ers experience with the 4200/GS for some reason ...pehaps the sheer weight of the cars they are used on.
Which brings me to the disc diameter...
Maserati might have spec'ed a bigger disc using the same calipers and this would not have put the set up so close to its designed parameters...Its an expensive upgrade.
Nah..It's hard to get out of 2nd gear on UK roads. Either traffic or speed limits. Can you justify it ? ;)

However...
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronav...s-vans-and-motorcycles-due-from-30-march-2020

"COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months. This is being done to help prevent the spread of coronavirus."

So if you were doing as the government asked and self isolating and your MOT ran out before the 30th, you still need to get it done. Doesn't really make sense.

Bike mot runs out on 31st March. Happy days, free extension.

I called the dealership last week, before the announcement and they said they were not taking any bookings unless critical to work etc. As it’s the bike, I wasn’t too bothered as i could not use it for a while but if it was my only car, I’d not be too happy.

I’d expect they wont be pursuing prosecutions for many that just miss the 30th march deadline, provided it’s just missed. They have no way to prove or disprove if you were self-isolating during that period and i doubt they’d even try.

Its possibly the sneaky insurance companies that may be an issue though if it fell in that grey area.

Similar situation with the GS Booked in last Friday with Autoshield, service MOT etc. Needed ABS sensor changing to pass, MOT ran out last Saturday so no extension, ended up getting the Virus and spending 4 days dying in bed so had to cancel, MOT has expired but Still recovering so can’t rearrange yet. Contacted the DVSA they advised to book an MOT when recovered but stressed do not take it until the virus has passed

My first MOT on my first car was completed very simply, the tester came out into the street to check the mileage and registration number and popped back 5mins later with the ticket - simples........
Around 30-35 years ago ( yeah here he goes again gandad ) just before they started to change the regs and clamping down , it was quite common around Worthing for a complete book or two to be available , i know of a few insavoury characters who would sell you and MOT for £20 in those days and all you had to do was give the reg no and the mileiage , every stamp looked typical John Bull printing kit type lol ........my last one i always remeber was from Sunnyside garage. I think the regilations changed later so the mot books had to be kept in a special safe
