Mosquitos in the dash?

Undoubtedly caused by my amateur heater core replacement: by direct damage or jostling something near failure already.

The driver side dash is buzzing like a mosquito even without a key in the ignition. Would post a video but not seeing how to do so directly on the Tapatalk interface. But imagine it just as described.

Going to start pulling fuses one by one until it clears but thought I’d share because lockdown life lacks stimuli.

Isolated to the centralized door lock system, fuse 40. Off to hunt down a system diagram unless someone here has such a diagram handy

Sorted.

Lower heater hose clamp needed a bit more persuasion to do its job satisfactorily. A few drops of coolant had made their way from the lower heater hose lip onto the cable bundle below, seeping directly into the multi cable connector to the Lock/Unlock Doors Module (part 184391).

After watching the SpaceX launch, found the door lock system diagram on Scuderia, which made troubleshooting a one step affair as the system layout showed only one possible culprit. Found module behind the driver side tunnel panel (US car), removed, dried off connector, tightened lower heater hose, restored system to use and garage retested. QED.

Of course, it was all self inflicted due to not visually inspecting the heater hoses after the extended high speed runs yesterday. But, on balance, no real damage and I escaped an hour of other home repairs and such that are less enjoyable than tinkering in the garage.

Now if only the rain would stop so I could do another proper road retest. Might require a drive to the Olympic Mountains just to be sure.

Be sure Todd, be very sure.

Given that a good slice of my work involves people in camo who jump out of airplanes on purpose - which clearly involves your neck of the woods - I should head out your way so you could check those fittings out in person! A mere 2500 miles each way; a day trip.

Airborne!

I knew you were in NC, but didn’t realize you were an AllAmerican! I’m an ex submarine officer, but have become pretty fluent in Airborne ops for my work. All unclassified, it’ll make good conversation fodder. Let’s say I know more about Tactical Crossloads and DA Form 1306 than a submariner should.

I have a good friend in subs out of Va. I like the quote in The Green Berets, "It's not the first that's hard, it's getting them to jump a second time that's hard".70823
