When I had the SZ wheels widen I got a new set of bolts, the anoraks will hate them as they are slightly different head to the originals but then again the wheels are widened so once again not for the puriests. However I now have a spare set of SZ bolts, minus the few damaged on removal, so when I refurb my original wheels to original spec I will have enough bolts to do the job - anoraks happy

looking shiny

The nuts need torqueing down, but once you get rid of the silly Speedline bolts it is quite an enjoyable job.

I've still got one of those special bolt tools...

somewhere...

I think I've had my wheels split apart and refurbed twice now, in twenty years of ownership!

I have 3 different ones now!!
Your original one that has worn a bit now
Another socket that will grip if you hammer it on and the T bar one i used here.

Still prefer to ditch the bolts !!!

Looking nice and shiny.
The bolt head is on the inside of the wheel so not seen, rather than buy a set of bbs ones with the splined head, i was going to use A2 SS Socket head bolts, bought from Screwfix or similar. They are not torqued up to a huge amount so they wont snap. Does anybody see any issue with using them ?

thanks

The torque you apply to a bolt is there to provide a clamping force and ensure it doesn’t undo. A “low” torque doesn’t imply it’s subject to a low load. The bolt size and material is the indication of its design loading.

I would steer clear of Allen head cap bolts, they are an absolute nightmare to undo. I’d go with the 12 point type that is on there.
