More wheel bearing shenanigans

this bearing is distributed by NTY (German company) It won't harm anyone to share your concerns about the quality with them. Their response tells something about their commitment to supply the right quality parts

NTY claim to exceed OEM specifications on their website and judging from their request with future partners, might be a collective brand for multiple suppliers (Think Lidl or Aldi).

£675.50 from Eurospares for OEM or £285 from AutoDoc for pattern parts.

I'd like to see a certificate of conformance in the packaging for reassurance.

I need a new front bearing. £500 from Scuderia or £100 from Autodoc. I shall report back

Yes, but AutoDoc are selling them for over £200 not £ 100 as you state. That's my question,

Well the good news for the newer cars is I’ve worked on hundreds and never changed one.
I firmly believe one of the issues is the lack of use and long periods of inactivity Matt especially if the car is parked on terrafirma.
Most of the newer stuff is used and covering the mileages as they are more suited to daily driving.
Just my thoughts.

Mine's just showing some play and you can hear the tell tale whirr. 108k on it thought (from memory)

Plus the ABS sensor is separate....

Hope someone can assist with this but if the blue cable to the sensor ring on the bearing has been cut through - can it be replaced?
Almost new bearing removed from a scrapped car however dismantles have just snipped through cable instead of removing it properly:rolleyes:

If there’s enough cable to splice to I can’t see why not if done properly.
I wouldn’t want to pay much for it though - £50 tops

So, the Chinese clearly saw my thread about identifying their bearings with a darker blue cable.

Today we had a GT in with play in the bearing front right. Checking the cable it was the correct light blue colour but something didn’t look right.

On closer inspection the plug connectors looked suspect and sure enough it’s a copy.

So the only way to be sure now is to look for SKF in the casting of the rear of the rotational flange of the unit.

To their credit it appears they have sorted the electronic side of it but the bearing itself is sub standard.

Good luck to those running them and driving at high speeds.
Any idea how many miles / years the Chinese bearings have been on that vehicle?
