More battery woes

Due to lots of underuse, woke up this morning to a dead battery. Half expect it these days with COVID. So I wire up the charger, in-situ charging away. But cant shut driver door now properly, and all the dash needles are jumping and clicking and there's a clicking from around the battery area too. Oddly enough click was still correct, but NIT was asking for radio code before it went too dim to see.

Sure it never did that before, must be some sort of parasitic draw.

Question is should I let it charge on and over come the relay draw, or whip the battery out and charge it unconnected? Thing is really really hate the fight to get the battery out, always do my thumbs or crush a finger.

Must invest in a starter pack, any recommendations? Something portable, not too big since I'd keep it in the boot. Got my eye on this, does up to 6ltr engines, 20 starts, looks quite compact, but it is American :(

I have one of these. It is good and still at 100% since charging when I bought it and using on the range once. Designed for 8.5litre big diesels.

Not in stock anyway, plus only US plug available which implies a voltage converter - list time I got one of those (for a Sun Microsystems Camera!) it cost more than the camera!

Think mine came from Amazon and came with 3pin. They do have them on fleabay and you choose plug us, eu, 3 pin

Loose battery connection?
Nope, fitted a clamped negative lead from Eurospares tight as a Scotsman's wallet. Using the Halfords charger which I've never liked. Bought the Aldi Ctek one which my daughters boyfriend has 'tidied away' and now I cant find it....

I used the Aldi once (on his car battery!) and it looked a better bit of kit.

I have mine all the time on a CTEK Mx 5.0 charger along with the Porsche. Never harmed either battery and never had a flat battery through lack of use.

I have a Noco. It's ace. There's a video floating around of a guy that runs a pound in Alasak or something trying to jump a string of cars that are snowed in. Basically lose count of the number of US pig iron it just starts and keeps on going. Used to spin the Jaaaaaaaag without even trying.

Sounds to me like your battery is SNAFU btw

It's fairly new I think, Tanya, I'll check but if it is it's lack of use and no way of keeping it on trickles (double garage full if ****!)

I had a battery drain on my 4200 some years ago and it was traced to the amp not powering off when the ignition was turned off.
