As you have a Ghibli, I accept your response. Its difficult for us to put our feelings across without upsetting members who have these cars so don't take it personally, its more of a shot at Maserati, not its customers.

I do however agree with you that they should have produced a Ghibli Stradale and showed just how good the car could have been. This points that they have no interest in performance and are only interested in shifting units but it looks like its come back and bitten them on the @rse!

I appreciate your sensitivity ;)

I know and accept my circumstances, of high mile driving. Had a diesel Ghibli not come on the scene I would still be in Alfas. The direction they have gone means they have a car that suits my needs now. I know this is not to everyones liking. Some of the parts may have come from the FCA parts bin, however, if you want (and heres the key) an E segment saloon with a diesel engine then for me the Ghibli won vs BMW / Audi / Merc / Porsche

And they did indeed make 8000 cars, to order, with Ferrari DNA.... but were losing money!

Had 7 x V8 Massers over the past 11 years and now running a Ghibli petrol as a daily due to lack of storage space and lack of use of the last Gransport I had.

Of course, there no comparison between my Ghibli and GS/GT etc but for what I need in a daily I'd still rather be driving a Masser of sorts than anything from the Fatherland and it's still a bit of an occasion every time I get in.
Maybe at some point I'll be back in a V8 for weekend use but as a compromise for now it's fine.

Just a question on the Ghibli...I would love one as a daily drive but how is service costs compared to say BMW/Merc etc. I just had a service on my C250 from a specialist and it was £259. For a daily drive to work for me I would have to take into account running costs as well as I do 25/30k miles a year. Its OK building a daily drive Maserati but has it got weekend toy running costs...?....If it was 500/600 every time I needed a service or more then it wouldn't work.

Maintenance costs are irrelevant if you are putting 25-30k miles pa on a Maser as depreciation would be off the scale. Stick with the Merc - Ghibli service intervals are 12.5k miles.

Off to Emblem for 25k -EDIT 12.5K! service next week £450 - quoted over £700 by MD.

I will do around £16k pa so can live with it. As Bob says, much more than that and it would be tough to justify v the usual suspects

First service on my Ghibli at an MD cost £378. I've found that they always over state the price then you have a pleasant surprise with the final bill ;) That was the cheapest by far though. The other three I've done have been at least double that.

Either way, buy a new Masser and your financially shafted!

Buying an older version though, you can have the same fun and when the time comes to move it on you get some of your money back!
