To the general public, anyone who is:

- washing their car themselves, for anything over 30mins

- taking wheels off to clean the car

- parking as far as possible from any other cars

- in general being prescious about your car

- meeting other middle aged men in car parks/pub/beauty spots/etc to talk bout cars

- going on a forum on a daily basis, multiple times a day, to discuss cars or things relating to cars

...All will lead to most thinking you're a cock!

So we've got that covered. If anyone on here thinks they're "super cool," I'm sorry to have disappointed.

We're one rung up from being on a high-end audio forum, and a couple of rungs up from an IT forum, but we're still on the same ladder :)

I've always had an irrational hatred of people who wear hats while driving, especially old geezers in Nissan Micras wearing port-pie hats or tearaways 1.1 Corsas in baseball caps. But I have a real problem with bright sunlight, so when we go out in MrsMarkMas' C70 I have to wear a peaked cap, and I'm pretty sure that is a terrible 'look'.

Talking of which, what is it with wearing baseball caps the wrong way round?

It only matters if you care what people you don’t know might be thinking about you. Fortunately, I couldn’t give a dead rat‘s a55.
57 years old, fat, wearing a panama and sunglasses driving out to the coast with my much better looking and younger wife, hood down in my GC in the sunshine. Sounds like I tick all the boxes other than I do still have a full head of brownish hair.

I’m semi retired, living the dream and enjoying myself, so I don’t care what others think whether they know me or not and anybody that objects can go f..k themselves!

Unfortunately a hat is essential when the suns beating down due to less hair coverage than there used to be but I can take comfort from being under 50 and my Spyder qualifying as a classic!

Genuinely - what is a decent hat to wear? As quite honestly you sometimes need one.

I would like something more "grown up" than a baseball cap, but without looking like I'm off to shoot grouse.

A panama would fly away.

I think baseball caps can be fine, depending on the style, oh' and keep it the right way around!

It's not even just about hayfever. I find glare uncomfortable.

My optician tells me I should wear glasses even on not very bright days to avoid fecking my eyes up. ******** to what people think, but the choice of glasses will have an impact in much the same way as the choice of car.

You’re all just not down with the kids.

30 years ago a middle aged bloke with a beard, tweed cap and a classic convertible would immediately make you hide your kids inside and refer them to the Charlie Says adverts. Now though; that’s über cool, Instagram click bait, just don’t forget your cup of mocha latte and selfie pout (must try harder Allan ;))

PS. Chuffing spell checker, some shite taxi firm has hijacked the word über and keeps wanting me to spell it wrong, bastards
