In my experience, these ppi inspections arent worth the paper theyre written on, the intention is to pull up all defects no matter how minor to reduce the price, like worn wiper blades and stone chips....fine on a new mass produced car, but id prefer to take the opinion of a proper maserati specialist rather than someone more used to valuing nissan jukes. This car looks like a good buy on the face of it, the NI thing can work in the buyers favour. Hassle should mean money off

Well it rather depends on who did the PPI. The general recommendation around here is to have a specialist....

Being in Northern Ireland must be a major barrier. People love the look of it online, make an offer 'in principle' and then realise they are looking at £200 in costs, just to go look at it. Mind you @Ebenezer went and got his in NI sight unseen and hasn't looked back.

PS, Eb, I was at SportsItalia yesterday - your car is nearly finished, they just need to pop back in the drivetrain, engine, suspension and interior.

Yes bought in NI 7 years ago now. Nothing wrong that vast quantities of cash couldn't fix!

Yet to give the car a proper shakedown after it's latest complete refresh. Triggers broom springs to mind!

Ok guys I went to Northern Ireland this weekend and fell under the spell of that V8. That sound!

I got a good 4500 off the stated price and the chap was a joy to deal with and the car is fab.

The ride back to the south east was epic and took the whole of Sunday. Managed to buy the car on the Saturday and take a look around Belfast. Sometimes it pays to go further afield and if feasible make a weekend trip of it…saw the Titanic and Stormont over the weekend. Plus Alex Higgins pub and Van Morrison birth house.

The car itself is in very good shape. Will probably get the front end (stone chips) and boot (inside lid rust spreading) fixed. Only other concern could be the front chassis, but will get it checked out. All things that were known prior to travel.

A check is def worth it if you are travelling for miles and making a weekend trip. Nothing worse than doing 500 miles to visit a lemon.

Here she is…

Funnily you were exactly spot on the transport there (flight and transfers) and ferry back cost me exactly £200. Although to that must be added a night’s lodging, 2 meals and one fill up back. So all in circa £450 I would say. But I did discover a new place. Oddly no one I know has been to Belfast before, weird

Bet you had a ball on the trip back - did you try sport mode (driving off the ferry ) and paddle shift? A few more pics would be in order!

Well done! Fortune favours the brave, before you then have to test that same fortune in the months to come! I had a similar adventure and went to the Giants Causeway on my way back via Larne, Cairnryan and then back down to the South East.

Yes the exact same ferry that this Tuesday packed up in the middle of the Irish Sea…lucky it was not an extended break!

Thanks guys at final agreed price of £26500 it makes the other two facelift QPs on auto trader look way overpriced and overly optimistic even through they are dealer cars. I reckon they will stay on autotrader a very long time…

One is a daft price at £50k, the other which isn’t a dealer, it’s a broker, is obviously not having serious enquiries as it’s dropped £2k this week.

What’s a fair price range for these, assuming good condition? £25 to £35 k?

Assuming (huge assumption) inspected, proper history, detailed and warranted retail sale, my personal opinion is the 18k mile car is worth £42-44k in the current market. The 44k mile car around £33-35k.

How did you get a ferry so cheap? My trips to Ireland are usually £450-£500 return for a ferry.
