McLaren Manchester - shudder

I watched this as well earlier, pretty concerning. I've not seen much of the chaps content but from what I have, he seems quite reliable. I'm fairly local to Mclaren Manchester and in fact looked at a 650s there a while back. Sales team seemed alright on that occasion but then again that's no reflection on customer service and on-going interactions.
Was interesting to hear it seems dealer related rather than a brand issue. From what I remember he had very positive things to say about Woking. I hope Mac sort out the QA and also start allowing third parties to fix the cars as it's not helping them at all either.

Another reason a McLaren just doesn't seem appealing to me.

You don't hear too many bad Ferrari stories only good ones I've heard in comparison.

This does sound dealer related rather than Brand as mentioned above but McLaren do need to sort the network as it seems there are inconsistency from one to the other.

Yes the dealer in question does not shine, but the problems with the cars the dealers have to deal with, originate from the brand.
I just think back to that original TV documentary about them on how controlling Ron Dennis was with the running of the factory/quality of the cars, and how it appears to have changed.

Yes, shame Ron's isn't still in control...When did he go ? Though he still oversaw the car side of the business just not F1.

McLaren will be mortified by this. I’ve a friend that bought a Mc from their Knightsbridge showroom and they’ve been fantastic. This is a dealer issue. But it’s just appalling behaviour and I’d have had my money back but now.

When I used to clock up 30k miles a year I bought a big Lexus for the job and their sales and support team were so far better than anything I’d experienced before. This was mid-90’s and dealing with car firms was generally dreadful at the time. I had thought that all dealers were now operating at the Lexus level now, but clearly not.

I was looking at one in the summer. The build quality was terrible, I’ve not seen visible glue on a new car since TVR went bust.

Talking of TVR ...What's happening with this new car...Its disappeared......They were building a factory in South Wales last thing I heard. Looks like that's stopped.

You'd hope so, but according to the chap who made the video, he shared it with them before posting and got a reply which was indifferent at best.

I like Maccas very much, but wouldn't buy a used one mostly because of the lack of an indie service network and the challenges of selling it when it's time for a change. It seems like the best way in to one now is brand new and on a Macca PCP deal so you can give it back after x years with fully predictable running costs and a loss you can be certain of from the outset. Buying this way, a 600LT will cost about the same as a 570S.

Not much, I reckon, Andy. If I'd paid a deposit I'd want it back, and fast. Personally speaking.

at least TVR's were cheap!! I remember my tool box with the TVR's always had tir wraps and silicone, most of that car would glue back together in some way.

It is a sytner showroom - why are any of us surprised by this? They are notoriously terrible.

A friend was going to buy a MC about 5years ago but had to sign saying he only sell back to them , he pulled out of the deal

That sounds unenforceable. Surely if I own something then I can choose who I sell it to. The only way that would make sense is on a PCP deal. Or am I missing something?
