I'd imagine (probably wrongly) that the fact it's a convertible is precisely why they could offer the glass (LCD) roof.

My logic is thus: Coupes use the roof as part of the structure of the car and therefore transmit stresses through it. Convertibles have to be able to perform without any stress being passed through the roof (when it's not there) so increase body strength in other areas. Ergo even when the roof is up, any stresses through it are lower than the coupe.
I doubt this glass (being LCD) is as tough as a normal panoramic roof and may not be able to survive the stresses required for the coupe.

Or I could just be making it up as I go along

I think carbon tubs are so stiff it hardly matters if there is a roof on there. May even be a "pro" having the weight lower. IDK. Blinking lovely car in either format!

Well, I did say 'probably wrongly' ;)

OTOH if they were that stiff, surely every car with a carbon tub would have a convertible from day 1?

And yes, lovely

Convertibles are heavy. Convertibles with a glass roof are even heavier. Plus there’s a lot of bald men who buy a mid engined mid life crisis

just read the article: 143Lbs heavier! I stand corrected.

I mean just from a bad understanding of engineering, a structure that is essentially a tube (a coupe) is always going be stiffer than a tube with the top cut off (a convertible) So even if it is stiff enough you can make it lighter as a coupe, and still make it stiff enough....

That is stunning, sufficiently different from the coupe too

This will be their first car to be fully electric too for anyone who cares

Very nice but sstupid question time.....is this roof back in garage car then? If so pretty much pointless in uk......never mind Scotland's weather! Lol
