Whilst I agree that more positivity would be better, don't these have modern dual clutch boxes so the wear isn't the same issue?

I can't imagine that the fact that it's dual clutch would make much difference when you're on and off drive in the same gear (and therefore using the same clutch would be my understanding)

I rather hope the software is a bit better than it was on the earlier F1 boxes though in terms of what it does about clutch slip.

That would be a first ever for this brand then. Not sure why you think this will buck the trend.?

The MC12 did it, worth considerably more now than when new.
It never ceases to amaze me that people think all Maseratis plummet value wise when that’s simply not the case. The GT is worth around 30% of its list price when new after about 8 years or so, after 3 years it’s worth about 60% of its new value.

The MC20 isn’t exactly a regular Maserati. It’s the first true super car they’ve built since the MC12 18 years ago. I just can’t see them being £80k when 3 years old, I may be wrong, but we will have to wait and see.

Compating a limited numbers Hypercar to a hybrid mass numbers car is like apples and oranges though to be fair. The GT Sport I bought at 5 years old had lost around 60% of its £110k price tag. My £80k at 3 years still stands, we will see.

If you take one on finance, Maserati are saying it’s £120k after 3 years, hence I’m a little more optimistic than Phil.
My Strad still hasn’t lost 50%, even though it’s 10 years old.

It’s not a hybrid. 300 per annum worldwide is most definitely not mass numbers either.
The GT Sport you sold at 7.5 years of age went to WBAC at around 40% of its new price.

Like I said earlier, it’s crystal ball time, but I reckon in September 2024 if I’m selling £80k MC20’s there will be a very long queue at the door.

And finance companies are always very much risk averse with their balloons. I reckon cars produced in 2022-23 will be about £120-130k when they reach 3 years of age in 2025-26 but early models will hold their price as there will be plenty of buyers of the first used examples to hit the market.

Part of me hopes you’re wrong,
And part of me hopes you’re right.
selfishly so I could have one but I think if it dropped that low that would be the final nail.

MC12 numbered 50 cars Worldwide. Maserati has AFAIK not said they will limit the numbers of the MC20 built and why would they when it's going to be their only sporty model in the next year or two? Yes not hybrid but there will be an all-electric version.

Whatever powers them and whatever they are worth, it’s a shame they don’t have any luggage space. I know it’s a tad dull to point this out, when they look so great and will be so quick, but it’s what you can or cannot do with a car that interests me.

For the same reason, I can see them holding their value better than other Maseratis as they’ll sit in garages with tiny mileages. If you’re in the market for a £200k plus trinket, they’ll be a decent option. I can see them doing what the Alfa 8C has done value wise - held their own very well, but hardly ever used properly.

This might be good news for the older more affordable and more useable models, whose perceived worth might be buoyed somewhat by the MC20 halo.

If I had a car like the MC20 and I was going away for the weekend, I would expect my companion to not require luggage bigger than a wash bag for their clothes... and I don't play golf so the old standards for a grand tourer do not apply.

The dented car is now back in circulation and went to have a look at JCT yesterday. It really is a lovely thing and looks fantastic. The interior is a special place and is surprisingly roomy once you're in but boot space is pretty much non-existent. You're not allowed to start it for some reason which was disappointing.

The salesman said they have sold 3 with the first one due next month - all had been specced with the carbon exterior pack at £30k and each was coming in at over £250k. If you ordered one today it would be 10-12 months before it came and he didn't think it was likely that they would get one as a demonstrator. I quizzed him about the new Granturismo but he didn't seem to know any more than I did.

I don't think he was particularly surprised when I declined to place a £5k deposit but I did get a nice cream tea to take home.
