I cannot help but think the MC20 is pricing itself out of the market.
This, definitely. Supercar prices in general, are making decreasingly less sense. But its difficult for Maserati to price these so high when for a long time now, the gen public associate the name with things like the Ghibli and the SUVs.
I know people will shout 'Porsche!' at me here, (and this is I guess what the company is aiming for) but Porsche is still associated by most people, as a sports car maker that also makes SUVs and saloons. Maserati isn't, any more.... sadly.
I can't help but think... if only they'd managed to price it lower, (competing, with say, the Caymen on price) and gone for more volume sales, before moving to a mega price model?
But then I know nothing of the production costs, or margins...

Anyways, I'm sat here still waiting for the MC20s to drop comfortably into the 5 figure asking prices. Which I guess we all are, and here's the problem..

I’m all for relativity, but at some point, common sense must prevail!

At what point, aka price point, does a car become too expensive!

Personally, even If I was well to do and had paper to flush down the toilet, my north star budget would be £130k.

Such an open ended topic and at the end of the day, its worth whatever one is willing to put down. At it’s most simple, a car is, and always will be, a chassis and four wheels intended for travel in one direction or another.

Today it is not the price of buying, its the price of owning (well renting to be fair) for the vast majority of purchasers from new.

So residual is King so to say.
True I guess! Only really the likes of the so-called dying breed, aka, V12 Ferraris that truly yield this benefit

Yes and no, it's certainly ambitious for Maserati but McLaren, Aston, and Ferrari have really pushed prices up hard. A 296 GTB or 750S will set you back at least $450k now.
