MC20 Cielo review

I made a reply on that PH post. The carbon is very expensive but actually no more so than the competiiton from Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren etc. The average Ferrari these days has over £40k of options so it's no surprise to see them option up a press car.

Of course PH is full of dreamers and armchair critics so not many of the replies come from potential owners or those that appreciate why the MC20 is so special when compared to the Huracan, Artura etc. It's the usual stuff about an Emira being better value or a used McLaren etc.

For what it's worth, none of these competitors - at least at similar pricing - produces a truly bespoke, ground up, design. They have the luxury of borrowing key mechanicals from their sister companies, or in the case of McLaren, they have engines being built by someone else (Ricardo). The MC20 is a lot of money but it really is the most special piece of engineering this side of £500k.

I hope it helps bolster the brand and introduce it to a new, younger audience. I think it will. And for that, we should all be grateful and it will lead to some brand security and so on. We harped on when they showed the Alfieri about Halo cars and after Ferrari stole that one, I'm very pleased they managed to get the MC20 into production.

My expectation is they will drop towards the end of the year to around £130-150k and sit there. If they do that, i'm in.

Oh, and the exterior carbon is so choice. My used one will have it and I thank the original owner for speccing it for me and losing most of that money!

Spot on! Though average Ferrari is 80k in options according to my local MD

All of them are taking the p1ss charging 36k plus for that option and there is no way anyone can justify that. Don’t care who the manufacturer is. But then you don’t have to have tick that box. If you do you have more money than sense. But then as I don’t have that sort of income that is why maybe it is alien for me that someone would spend the price of a second hand GTS on bits of carbon fibre.

After all that though this is an amazing car and I for one love the fact that arguable for the first time in many, many decades Maserati are at last building cars that are being hailed as best in class. This should be applauded as I never thought I would see the day.

Unfortunately the car they really need to sell, hasn’t reviewed quite as favourably…

Regarding options on these sorts of cars, I was chatting to my Ferrari dealer, half interested (ok quarter interested) in ordering a new Roma. They said unless you spec it well (and by well he meant pricey) then it will forever be shunted back in the waiting list. They will only build cars with £X of options. I guess when you have such a sought after product you can do that sort of thing.

There was a new 296 at Prescott and the weekend it looked quite nice. There was none of the Halfords Max Power tat on the outside so not sure where the extras were although someone had speced the the silly plastic seats. Even the Ms thought it looked quite nice.

Honestly, that’s one of the worst things I’ve ever heard (relatively speaking - obviously not compared with world hunger etc.)

yes, pretty irritating to say the least! Probably explains why there arent any "poverty" spec supercars out there. Porsche are the same apparently.
