MC-Shift dropping into N - Granturismo Sport.

Gentlemen!

I have no shame and resurrect this thread as it is exactly what I am dealing with at the moment. As I am a cheap skate, I bought a ThinkDiag2 Scanner which allows me to read the ECUs and set some values.

What I have found for now:

km 49306 thats roughly 31k miles, Maserati told me at the last service that the clutch still has 70% left, which I want to confirm

PIS 420
Clutch reading 19.68 - I guess that is the new clutch position.

so before clicking around randomly I thought it might be a good idea to ask, if somebody here is familiar with the interface. it gives me these options:

* DEIS Check parameters autoset
* clutch actuator bleeding
* engagement/selection actuator bleed
* clutch configuration
* PIS

Clutch configuration gives me the 19.68
PIS 420

any ideas on how to proceed with this tool? I will need actual clutch reading, and relearning...PIS I have already found.

Thank you!

What I almost forgot...one error code P1770 - Gear engagements with wrong shifts-invalid signal

Before doing anything post some pictures with your F1 system parameters. Post anything related to the F1 system including actuator pressure leakage rates etc.

@cheburator has used the thinkdiag tool see screenshot and may be able to assist. I use a different OBD tool

Have a read of the F1 maserati academy information if you have not already there is a troubleshooting section.

https://1drv.ms/b/c/624e5bfff4fab675/IQDI7CsBmav4SbqBGDn2zEN7AebHD2SYdjG4qb-lvCUKCoU

P.S for reference this is what my information looks like. I use EasyMas OBD.

When you say 420 for your PIS...do you mean 4.20? I guess it's not worth changing it from 4.20 to 4.19 (or likewise my 4.17 to 4.19).

A question for @Sam McGoo can you just adjust the PIS and do a gearbox relearn. Or do you have to very certain procedure.

I found a procedure in the maserati workshop manual and it is quite complex. I can post a copy if anyone wants to read it

thank you for the swift answer!

420 is what the scanner is saying...I also strongly guess he means 4.20...I do have in mind to increase it to 430, just like @Sam McGoo did. I will get in contact with @cheburator as he is probably the right person for me now!

p.s.: I had it at the dealer and they said everything is fine...interestingly it becomes a lot better when the car is warm after driving it for 10 mins or so

Hey - don’t use the Maserati menu with ThinkDiag, but use the Ferrari F599 - it’s much more resolved. Don’t do DEIS re-learn either - chances of bricking up your TCU are quite high. Have a play with the PIS but via the 599 menu… Also, don’t trust the dealership with their clutch life calculation. My car was on 33k miles and the original clutch was 92% worn! 31k miles on yours and only 30% wear sounds very unlikely unless it’s a second clutch. The calculation can be fudged by unscrupulous dealers to mask an upcoming wallet drain. Calculate clutch life yourself. Plenty of info about on how to do it.

Strictly, would you mind sharing what you have found - want to compare notes, please.

Alex

Hi Alex - thank you for joining my story and sharing your expertise! I have already found your previous postings where you mention to use the 599 menu.

My plan was to read all data available before changing anything, so that I can change it back in case I **** up sth terribly. Regarding clutch wear...I was also a bit sceptical, that's why I decided to get a scanner myself and do a little math. There is this very comprehensive file, also linked by @strictly above where this calculation is explained. But first I need to extract the data from the ECU :D

I will be happy to share everything I can extract with 599 menu and keep you posted. Will do this either tonight or tomorrow.

btw: I am using an iphone for this...I have read that the android app is different and provides more possibilities. Can you second this for the specific gearbox topic as well?

Hi Alex

The PIS (kiss point) procedures i referred to you can find here in the link below along with lots of other things. SEE SCREENSHOTS

https://1drv.ms/f/c/624e5bfff4fab675/IgC1oQdLpjXPSrdEqQTFeVFBAZXxt2BxAwEyuFP0bHZdAR8

I believe if you use the Firefox browser down em all plugin then you can download the entire library....!

For the F1 information navigate to M145 then F1. See screenshot

The PIS is quite complicated according to the procedure. See screenshot. Im wondering if anyone actually follows the procedure! Gearbox oil hot maybe...?

Gents! A little update from my side....with quite surprising data. Managed to read the ECU - choosing F599 allows you to read everything. A screenshot is in the attachment, but very interestingly the PIS value reads 5.38mm clutch wear calculated is 41 %...so not 30 but still very good.

Any more values of interest?

What do you guys think of setting PIS to the default value of 4.19mm?

Okay that would be too much…but following the OP, I should increase it even more Question is what else needs to be done. Clutch self learning? Anything else?

@conaero thank you for the offer! I would love to come over and have this sorted out by your team. Unfortunately I am in Vienna so I will have to find a specialist here who knows what he is doing.

I can lower the value myself, but I am not so sure if this is sufficient. Frankly speaking, I do not know enough about the system to confidently start playing around with. The interface in the app however looks the same as autel x431.
