Interesting car to learn to drive in. Especially if the throttle body position sensor suddenly starts playing up.

Speaking of 'L' plates, this guy on FB just bought his GT at 18, BEFORE he had passed his test.

He's now passed (with 46 out of 75 on his 'hazard awareness' test ), and has got his personal number-plate. I look forward to meeting him at Sywell!

I would think the insurance would be prohibitive.

Maybe its a fb prank. The GT with the L plates on looks like it may be on a private road and possibly not even moving.

The car he is stood in front of with his personal plate is not the same car.

He says the photo was a friend doing a shoot for him, so yes stationary for some shots. There are plausible pics on FB from him driving through Wales in the rain. He says he has replaced the front bumper since buying it. Says insurance was £4k which sounds about right.

He says he is going to be at Sywell, so we shall see.

I wont ask why he changed the bumper. The L plate picture is an MC shift auto i think. So i cant think why he would change the bumper to a circa 2009 GT or GTs front bumper.

Fair play if it is genuine. I would be amazed at 4k insurance as run of the mill little cars are costing £1500 upwards for first car young drivers.

He says it is a 2011 Granturismo S MC and he has put a 2013 OEM Facelift bumper on it because he likes it better.

Yeah I saw that. Pics replacing the arch and sill ppf too in front of a large garage so it looks genuine.

White GT in Horsham yesterday, seen it a few times over the years but it now has matt black front and rear bumpers which I don’t get (work in progress?). Reg M444...
Looks to be on lowered springs and is always in sport mode by the sound of it :D

Sounds too low, actually. My nephew was quoted £2k for our old Alfa 147....

I wonder if he'll make it to Sywell without pranging it. Not sure if I hope it's kosher or not, but good luck to him if it is

I don't think the value of the car really matters risk-wise, it is about how likely you are to kill a dozen people. The underwriters probably think £1,000 for a 1.1 Corsa and then an extra £1,000 per extra 100 hp.

Its also about cost to repair / parts prices. Which is why you get stupid prices for say an Alfa 166 2ltr costing £1200 plus to insure for a driver over 45 with zero no claims as a new driver or 2nd car with their no claims bonus on another vehicle.

Lets face it anything other than a very minor prang and the alfa would be written off but the still factor into the quote average repair costs on a per brand basis.

Insurance prices can be an utter farce but at 4k many people the same age as that lad will think that is a bargain.

Odd. We got new insurance on the 147. All NCD on other cars and it was £175 ish. For both of us, although we're over 50

Found that my car had been joined by a pearl white sister here in Richmond the other day! Perhaps someone on the forum?
