Maserati Reactions

I think nothing (yet) beats the reaction we had when we parked our cars in the harbour at Portofino. There was a TV news crew in attendance!
It really was a special day Zep

I did a Loire Valley/Le Mans tour a couple of years ago with about 20 other Maseratis and Ferraris and we were allowed to park in the grounds of the Château du Clos Lucé (da Vinci's house).

A load of French school kids on a school trip went absolutely mental when we drove in giving it the beans. The noise from a few of the Granturismos was deafening and the kids loved it.

QP's don't get much but if they see the tridents sometime get a stare. One just on another forum claimed he got 5 girls' number in one trip but I don't believe him, most girls don't know an Aston from an Austin.

The thing that impresses people most is the electric rear window blind........
LOL! I've noticed this.. this is really a dudes car.. meaning dudes (and little kids) know what this is. Most females don't. Although.. I did have an older lady give me a compliment today and then asked "Does it do 185?".. LOL.

Locals must be shy around here. Nobody came to look!!
I think with the QP you have to nail the spec. My car is a white QP6 GTS with 21 inch titanos and gets attention especially when I drive in manual sport mode. If the spec is understated it can be a fairly under the radar car. I don't think the 4.7 QP5 GTS would be under the radar either with the noise and nice rims.

One of the first reactions to my new Maserati,a hoon in a Holden ute leaning way out of the driver's window shouting,"Fckin rich cnt". Quite a complement to a poor punter who was near penniless after paying for the car,I felt a warm glow & the conviction that I'd chosen my car wisely.

That made me laugh when I read what the hoon in the ute said. Prior to buying my Gransport, which is a weekend toy, I had a Falcon XB GS 351 which I restored. Always got waves and people wanting to chat about it wherever I stopped. Other car drivers would get out of my way etc... But now in the Gransport people seem to get in the way and block me if I want to overtake. No one waves or nice comments. Doesn't bother me, I love the Gransport. The funny thing is no would call out F... Rich C.. if you were in a XY GTHO which is worth ten times what my Gransport is.

Hi Karl,
Whereabouts in Aust are you? Must be a bit of road rage jealousy where you are.
In 5 1/2 years in my GS I can only recall one tosser blocking me on purpose in his Holden Gemini in a lanes merging situation.
Otherwise I get nothing but compliments.

Live in Narre Warren, home of Fountain Gate (remember Kath and Kim),which is south east of Melbourne. Bit of a bogan area. No doubt it would be different if I lived in Carlton.

I'd not had my ol' GTS long when someone yelled "Midlife crisis!" at me. Which is odd, because Martin and I look nothing like one another.

A while back someone declared, loudly and possibly drunk, that "if that was my fcking car I'd give it a fcking ********, I love it that much. I love that car." Sadly it was a bloke, but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

Overall, overwhelmingly positive. As, incidentally, is the response to the Vantage. I understand that Fezzas and Lambos are less universally loved. Certainly Mrs Crus grimaces when she sees a Lambo, laughs when she sees a Macca (she thinks they're stupid and that I'd look a total cock in one) and smiles wistfully when she sees a Maserati. She still misses that car, but happily was never as attracted to it as our mechanophile mentioned above.

All admiration for my bog standard black QPV

Funny I find in Sydney on my daily commute the C63’s, A45’s and Rs3’s all seem to flick their sports buttons to prove they’ve got a ‘sports car’. I tend find if I then do the sport manual with Larini x-pipe it shuts them up pretty quick.

What about reactions from other drivers? I get them hanging off my tail, trying to out accelerate if in front, deliberately trying to beat me off the line at traffic lights. So they can say ‘razzed off a Maserati’ today to their mates.

There are lots of faster cars even q-cars on the roads, but it’s not about that for me, it’s the exhaust note, not loud on the QP but sporty and nice, the flat cornering even though it’s a huge saloon car, and the way it goes exactly where you point it. Brakes a bit below par but who uses brakes?
