Hi Dom
I looked at the Waltham Abbey car and noticed a dodgy paint job to the front o/s wing, suspension clonks and leather peel.
I didn't make an offer, but if you're ok with the above, its priced well so could be worth you commissioning a ppi.
Best wishes and good luck with your hunt.

Aren’t they both GTS just one is a 4.2 the other a facelift 4.7?

Alan, is that the pre facelift car? I don’t see where the location is. They sent me through the service history which is scant and it’s due one now basically, probably brakes and tyres too which to my eyes makes it look expensive.

I am no expect though so was hoping someone here would know more :)

TBH I'm not sure now, I thought the 4.2 top spec was GT Sport best wait for others!

Yes, you can have a 4.2 GTS and it is ZF Auto only not DS. All 4.7 GTS were facelift.

Yes but service, tyres, brakes, subframe must be near enough 8k.... for a marmite wood interior.
If it were perfect spec I could understand.

I'm also thinking about upgrading to a 4.7 or 4.7 GTS (ideally 2011 or newer), so if you happen see a nice example that you don't actually decide to buy, let me know! I like the wood interior!

Yes 4.2 was a called Sport GTS 4.7 just GTS....Out of those two I would go for the 4.2 ....It was the best of the 4.2 range ...The grey car has been for sale for ages and started at 19995. It looks well looked after from the pictures and is the only 4.2 Sport GTS for sale.....but only because the other has lots of issues. On GTS owner on here went to see it last time it sold and walked away. 4.7 GTS is Maserati's best kept secret. Great car.....but finding a good one may take time as not many for sale at one time but it will be worth it.

I have been trying to decode the Maserati website description of the QPV model range, which is infuriatingly hazy, and the table below is what I have so far. Note that they never uses 'GTS' but always 'GT S'. Perhaps others can fill in some gaps.

Hi,

I am looking to get myself a gts soon.
There are 2 I am interested in and was wondering if anyone knew either of the cars at all.

I have a QP V 4.7 GTS and follow the market quite closely - there are two 4.7GTS on the market a white one that has been up for sale every summer over the last 3 years (originally with Nuvola at 37k from memory) and it never sells and the infamous blue car "Knobby" as its known which I would get inspected as its has issues (or walk away) that will need to be factored into the price.

I chose a 4.7GTS as for me they are "stronger" cars compared to the 4.2's BUT there are only 60 or so in the UK so if you want a 4.7 you will have to be prepared to move fairly quickly as good cars are selling - with the last 2 low mileage selling before the pictures were even put online. Another route is to talk to specialist dealers such as Richard Grace cars or other forum Sponsors like Shilltech who also do car sales.

On the 4.2's you will have more choice but these come with the robotised gearbox which has a clutch as opposed to the automatic ZF gearbox with torque convertor in the 4.7. Some prefer the feel of the gearbox in the 4.2 and accept that clutch wear and costs are part of that package.

You have put up two versions of a classic (imho) the first step is decide which variant you want and go from there....
