My advise, do what you feel is right. Here's an example, when I bought my Porsche, the Porsche club went on and on about IMS failure and making sure it's been changed.
(I did actually have an IMS failure)

Here it's about corrosion.

AM will be something else.

You get the idea ;)

Yes, every model has their issues, and people generally don't visit forums to say how faultless their car has been, its usually to discuss an issue or potential purchase.
So each forum will advise accordingly, depending on how helpful they want to be. ;)

Oh, so you've ignored advice before ;)

If anyone is foolish enough to take internet forum text as advice regarding spending other people's money then they deserve what's coming.

I wouldn't make too many assumptions Mr Tallman. You might end up not being so tall. ;)

Thanks all for the very warm welcome!

Corrosion seems to be the big concern. My car was MoTd and serviced by a specialist garage (David Philips in Edinburgh) however the undercarriage cover wasn't removed so not sure what's lurking under there. Do I need to remove this cover to check for corrosion or can I spot it easily elsewhere?

There is only a small cover which easily unbolts, but it should be fairly obvious if the previous owner was Captain Nemo without taking it off.

This thread is Rabby introducing himself.

If you want to clog up a thread about how Spoons buys a car, which is his choice, do it on his thread. Thanks :)
You're completely right Zep, we might even get a full thread drift which would be unheard of ;)

Rabby, well done on the purchase of HV11 EVN! Do tell us about the year, mileage, interior & spec - the interior looks interesting from what I can see through the glare of the windscreen.

Hi Tallman, thanks for the welcome.

It's a GT S from 2011, 57k, MC Shift transmission, with the alcantara and leather interior, not sure about the cream alcantara centres of the seats but it's growing on me. Has the carbon fibre pack and black tip exhausts which you can't see from the pics. Waited a while for the spec to come up for sale, still can't believe it's mine!

Beautiful car Rabby. The first time I sank the accelerator in mine, I felt like I was hanging on for dear life.
Like one of the chariot drivers in Ben Hur. It actually felt like the thing was alive and just wanted to really
stretch it's legs. Until IT was happy. Like some thoroughbred kept in a stable for far too long.

I may not advertise mine after all. Am rapidly talking myself out of it ;)

Wishing you many miles of smiles. And a clean driving licence!

Great analogy Ulstermanabroad, a bit like those wild horses riding the waves in that old Guinness advert..tic followed tock followed..!

I can't see myself ever selling mine, unless I loose my driving license which has suddenly become a distinct possibility!

Well done Rabby, what a fantastic first Maser purchase! I bought my first one back in June and love it, the strange thing is I thought that after wanting one for such a long time it would stop me looking at other Masers for sale but the opposite is true, it's given me a real taste for them and I want another...... it's definitely a disease with no known cure ;)

Welcome to the forum @Rabby . Sounds like that you'll have a great experience with the Maserati. Unlike other forums, you'll find that we're people on here, who will gladly share their experiences of Maserati ownership, the foibles of the car and brand. We have irregular meet-ups and p!ss-ups. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
