Another f*cking SUV. Why? All most of them do is get in your way and block your forward view. Poxy sh!tboxes. In this day and age of environmentalism, they take a lot more raw materials to make, they are harder on the road than an equivalent car and they burn more fuel so the sooner they ban them, the better. The trouble is, is that the average thick Brit aspires to one because it makes them feel important, and the car companies realise this and have tapped into the collective stupidity. If you are towing heavy loads or going off road a lot then fair enough, but hulking great pavement princesses are a pain in the ar5e.

Because they’re really good and practical. Ideal for a family. I’ve never been off road as I didn’t have a car that could. Now I do so there is a possibility of beach runs with friends. Whatever, who cares?
So given what you’ve said

Please explain how Maseratis new 3litre V 6 that can only carry 2 people and barely has room for a shopping bag has more right to be on the road?
Clearly it’s built with speed in mind -I wonder how many people will race it?
Oh it’s not A machine many aspire to either?

It’s a Sports car; it does one thing, it’s not a dual purpose vehicle that clogs up the roads, driven by yummy mummys taking their little darlings 200 yards to the nearest private school. Because you have a sports car, doesn’t mean you have to ‘race’ it, it gives one the joy of driving for drivings sake, you should know that because you bought an Atom. If you want to go to the beach, use the car park or buy something that doesn’t clog the roads, for example a four wheel drive estate. Sure, there are lots of cars you can aspire to; Lambos, Ferrari, Astons, Maserati, all of whom made their reputations of high end sports cars before the current fad took hold. In time the SUV fad will die out because people will realise that dragging 2+ tonnes of steel around does nothing for the planet and that having one will be a bit passé.

So V8’s do more for the planet?
I’ll wager most people with 2 seat sports cars have other vehicles, for practical reasons.
So that’s twice the materials, space taken up etc
By the way an mc20 is only 13cm shorter than a Velar. What a ******* waste of space

How many cars do you have Benny?,

A V8 in a sports car is less polluting than than the V8 in an SUV. Why strap another half ton of steel around it? All you do is f*ck the performance, create more wind resistance and block up the roads with bigger vehicles. Let’s face it, all you want is a comfortable, towering view to look down on the poor people while you cruise to the local shops which, because you live in a city, are no more than a quarter mile away. Perhaps Sainsburys or Harrods are further out, but I’ll bet you can shop closer to home. Trying to justify having a tank in your parking spot really doesn’t work; be honest, could you do your city driving in a smaller family car?

Of course I could drive a smaller car. I could also live without a car.
What’s with the poor people comment?

The council housing estates of the mother country are filled with the SUVs of people trying to buy class and the bigger the car the bigger the complex. I have 8 cars at the moment all of which took fewer raw materials to make than your Disco 4 lookalike. So, if you could live without a car, why did you buy such a big one?

You’re moaning about my 1 SUV and you’ve 8 cars.
Given your concerns for the environment i’m Assuming they’re all Prius’s.
No, didn’t think so.
You’re harping on about clogging up roads, materials etc and asking me to justify why I bought a single car.......which apparantly used more materials than your 8.

You talked about poor people.
Your arguments a bit rich.

Goodnight.

They were already well used when I bought them and I can only use one at once. Not only that, every one is smaller on the road than your Veeelaaar, great name by the way, and can easily fit in a standard parking slot. By the way, I’m not moaning about you having 1 car, I’m moaning about the size and purpose of the type of car you bought for city driving. I live in the country so I have a 4x4 saloon, a trash hauler/ shopping car and older cars I drive for fun, I don’t block up the roads with a compromised tank that is merely a fashion statement. I too will leave it there as you are off for your afternoon nap. Sleep well.

Glad to see everyone getting on so well !!!!
I think it's probably fair to say we all drive and own cars for different reasons, and they all have there pros and cons.

You can’t sleep either then Keith?

Clearly the pressures of running this site are keeping you up at night!! For me life in the diplomatic service requires long working hours. I'm off now to sort out something easier like the Israeli/Palestinian issues!!!
