Hi,
A little bit about myself, i love my cars, had a few over the years, ive had mostly BMW’s, M5’s , 840ci to name a couple, also a few Mercedes Cl55 AMG , Porsche 996 911 C4. All older when purchased. 6 months ago i bought a stunning F10 M5 competition, I absolutely loved the car but a few weeks ago i was smashed into from the back and shunted into the car in front resulting in a total loss. I was and still am gutted. In meantime i bought an old Saab turbo 9-3 to run about until i sourced my next car. The last couple of weeks ive spent trying to find something that floats my boat and the only car is the GT, so im on the look out, dont fancy the MC and want the 4.7, either black on black or grey on black. For some reason i dont want another M5, think the accident done something mentally!! Anyway i will take my time, seen a few nice one but not the correct one yet. Watch this space!! Cheers!!

Welcome and good luck. Granturismo is a great choice. Suggest a chat with forum sponsor Richard Grace for some no obligation advice.

Some lovely cars in your history. Granturismo is nowhere near as quick as most you’ve driven but that isn’t its appeal as you’ll discover.
Enjoy your search and RG as mentioned above is an excellent point of contact.

Welcome. That was some whack to write-off your beamer. Trust all were okay. Silver lining though if the end result is migrating to a Maser.
Enjoy your search and, as above, give RG a call.

Welcome to the forum, you’ve chosen the right car. Thanks to those who’ve recommended my services. Just sold a black on black one yesterday, have this grey/black one which I’ll have photos of on Monday, just having the wheels refurbed:

Happy to speak and advise with no obligation even if this one isn’t of interest.

Hi,
Defo some nice cars, i think the only really fast car was the M5, it was ridiculously quick but struggled to get it down even in the dry, i think the Maseratis power will be more than sufficient, anyway its more for the beautiful looks and noise im after. Fuel doesn’t worry me, the 840i was horrendous!! My heart is set and i will take my time, will more than likely travel as there is only one in Scotland forcsale and its been on for nearly 2 years. Thanks for replying and i will keep you updated.

Hi, yes i was ok, the rear was smashed in around 6 inches, the front went under a ford Ranger!! It took me 6 months to find the correct M5 for me so thats the reason it was so gutting. Thanks!!

Hi, i will keep an eye on your site, i will be in touchbif i have any questions if that’s ok. I have been on many car forums and this one seems to be very friendly!! My budget is around 27k i wish it was more but insurance payout on my M5 was horrendous so basically lost my trade in money that came from the CL55 i traded in. Thanks for replying.

Many if not most of Dicky's sales don't even reach the site. Well worth letting him know your exact requirements and he will no doubt have something to suit those at some point soon.

Hi,
Whats the story with the MC? I’ve never been one for flappy paddles or manuals, is it rubbish in auto mode? Is it a requirement to use the paddles? Doing lots of searching but lots of different views. As there’s zero about up here not much chance of getting a drive in one.

It’s not rubbish, diabolical is more accurate- trust me that’s irrelevant as you’ll want to pull the paddles as often as possible.

The 4200 CC was rubbish in auto. I wouldn't expect the MC to be any different. BUT that misses the point. Drive them on the paddles, they are sublime.

If you must have auto, get a ZF boxed GT. It's a great car

The auto option on my MC Strad works just fine is very useful for when pottering about. Unless you are regularly in city/commuting traffic I cant see why anyone would want an auto over an MC. The reason I sold my QP GTS and Gran-Cab MC is because they both had auto boxes, so they became boring to drive (even tough both are lovely and very accomplished cars). I would only ever consider a manual, but I live in the countryside so tend to have empty open roads to enjoy. If I lived in a city, I’d probably think differently.

Hi,
Thanks for all your reply's, much appreciated. I'm not a manual fan, I like firing it into drive and the box doing it for me. Had plenty cars with paddle shift and never used it so my worry would be that after some time with an MC I would regret it. Each to their own I guess.
Cheers

hi, if you want to come down to Preston you’re more then welcome to drive my car. It’s a GT-S with a sport pack combined with a ZF auto box MC autoshift. Incredibly fast gear changes using the paddles! Cheers Nigel

These are rare cars so you will need to travel to get what you want. Best bet is to get Dicky to source one for you.

In terms of gearbox, the MC is like the SMG on the old V10 M5 and the auto is like that fitted to top end BMWs - albeit with only 6 gears - but obviously not as snappy as the dual clutch set up in the current M5/M4. Neither are perfect IMHO but the 4.7 auto - what I have - is great on the paddles if you want it to. Otherwise it's just a great slushbox with a wonderful noise. Let us know what you get.

Hi, thanks again for all you’re replies, been hectic at work so not done too much with regards to the car hunt. What’s your thoughts on mileage? Most 4.7,s seem to be around 55k, some are a lot lower but command more money. I seen a nice spec one today with 65k, mileage has never really bothered me as long as they have been looked after, I actually prefer to use the cars as I don’t think its great for them to sit around. Whats your thoughts please?
