Well, I've been living with the S for 4 days now. Comparing the two cars, two things strike me.

The difference in build quality between a December 2013 and a April 2014 car is significant. It's hard to pinpoint specifics, but it just feels better put together everywhere, and there seems to be lower noise levels from the suspension, from the windows, from the cabin. I thought my diesel was a nice place to be, but the S is better in every department.

And then there is the engine. Wow. It's not a NA V8, but it still makes an incredible noise. Dare I say, a bit 458ish, ie a bit muted initially but once you get to 3k revs, it really starts growl and just gets louder and louder the harder you go. Totally addictive. Can't stop myself pressing the Sport button every time I get in it. And it's very very fast. Deceptively fast. You just don't realise how quickly you are accelerating until you look down at the speedo or focus on how quickly you are catching the car in front.

I'm very very impressed. Haven't yet done a long trip giving it the beans on country roads, but am very much looking forward to that.........

When I drove a QP with that engine I was nicely surprised by how fast it was in the mid range (a turbo's forte) but it was sluggish from a standing start until about 2750 revs. Nice sound in sport as you say and good that dampers (if you have skyhook) and the sport button are now controlled separately. I wish they were on my GTS.
