That looks very much like the Ghibli with a bigger battery and a milk float motor... not exactly inspiring or cutting edge design.

Nil points...

I'm not sure being the first luxury EV Coupe means much as Coupes are not selling in the volumes they used to and the Tesla S is the sort of Coupe 4 door shape that is selling.

As for the weight if they mean 175kg on top of the 1880kg of the GranTurismo then it weighs bout the same as a Taycan which is no boast.

I think FCA have really messed up Maserati and Alfa Romeo especially with the news on the latter today that they are binning coupes. Whatever you think of Porsche they understand that having halo cars sells the mundane. I think Maserati is now just floating along in a sea of nothingness.

I love Maserati (obviously) but given they can't get a car with CarPlay and self park onto the market, I'm not sure I'd trust them to build something so complex. I certainly wouldn't buy from the first batch. A v8 they can build, anything else makes me worry.

I’d buy one to use as a daily. Though I’d probably go for a hybrid first.

CarPlay works on the current cars, self park shouldn’t be needed

My B Class has self park , I didn't even know it had it until a P with an arrow appeared as I was about to reverse in a space
I've used it about 5 times when theres someone in the car that's never seen it working

Apart from that never

I like it I think, and 60 in 2 seconds sounds like fun to me. Would have to see how they execute this in the flesh as opposed to marketing blurb.

In time 0-60 wont be that interesting. All ev's will be doing sub 5 second 0-60 and crazy 60-100 times. There surely be 'ecu' tunes to unleash all electric power.

It would be interesting to see what will be the difference between EV's. Should it come to styling Maserati is in a good position.

I said before I had a dual motor Tesla S in Denmark for a day (and a bit) and it was fast, 2.9s to 60mph I think, but it was so linear and silent it just felt like a plane taking off (no idea what the 0-60 is on a plane taking off).

After half a day I was bored with it. And it wasn't chuckable, even a QPV is chuckable and it's well bigger. No fun at all.

EDIT: Seems a plane's 0-60 on takeoff is about 6 to 7 secs, that's rubbish!!

Perhaps there is a challenge here for the future, to make an EV that is fun to drive?

As long as it's not racy engine noises throughout the sound system. Oh, wait, they already do that with the diesels.....

Shouldn't be hard to sort out proper suspension and handling, the Tesla S weighs a good 2 tons, dunno if that's good or bad but if the oomph is there and weight is low why not?

This is a more interesting thread than I expected. I suspect we may all need to get used to EV's sooner or later and I am wondering where the fun factor will come from, or indeed why its missing in EV's? Perhaps we are used to being involved in the control of the engine, via the gearbox and removing that removes a sense of engagement? The noise of a roaring V8 is presumably some thing we have become tuned to, and we respond based on our historical conditioning. Do we need to just become tuned to fast EV's? I agree the chuckable aspect should be do-able with current technology, the weight of the batteries wont help but it must be possible.

Horses for courses, i would never have an EV as a fun car but as a daily commute there are a lot of things going for them. The Tesla 3 looks interesting, have started to investigate what it would entail to get one on lease over here.
