I too received the same email.
I'm thinking it's the new hybrid Ghibli that was mentioned a short while ago, or possibly an all electric sports car, although also according to the same article that car will not be available for quite a while. Apparently the new Ghiblii will be the first of the new model to be released under the new investment plan.
Whichever it underlines Ferrari announcing the discontinuation of engine supply, as I'm thinking the new hybrid and electric power plants will be sourced in house from the existing diesel engine suppler VM Motori.

Hybrid I can almost handle, decent engine size and a backup.

full electric and I will never understand the thinking from a company that has THE reputation for being soul filling cars.

im battering on and I’ve seen unfortunately people on here looking to embrace the electric era, it’s sad to me.

What will be will be though, thank god I own a 4.7 legend of a car.

please god let it be a combustion engine. They cannot go full electric surely.

PS I was stood next to a Urus on Sunday, it sounded the dogs balls.

So if Maserati came out with a Tesla beating coupe based on the Alfieri, but it can do over 300 miles and still do 0-60 in 3 secs, would you still say no?

I was in a Tesla the other week. I have no idea of the model, an S perhaps. You don’t clarify if this Maserati was full electric but I’m assuming it is.

Search my recent posts. It was lightning quick, made my chest flip. Unreal. But hand in heart. Did absolutely nothing for me and I’ll stand by that always.

just my opinion but it had zero soul and people will say yeah but it 20 years that’ll be the norm. Well in 20 years I’ll reminisce about the 4.7 Maserati I had and will show the grandkids videos of the car grandad use to have.

just my opinion

I received the same email this evening.

Nice to see a teaser campaign for something new though and at least they won't just be fading away like deal old Lancia have done

Atleast Lamborghini and Ferrari will not be going all electric direction. Just upgrade to one of those marques in the used market alongside your maserati (or as a maserati replacement) in the future and hold hope for those brands to continue with the large cylinder combustion engines. Lamborghini is going naturally aspirated v10 & v12 hybrid for the Aventador and Huracan replacements (basically another decade plus of naturally aspirated from Lambo)

The danger is that if they don't, then they're seen not to be innovators or leaders in this space...

If you go on the Maserati website they have the same opening page but if you click play the noises sound distinctly unelectric. They could just be winding everyone up of course.

Just listened to it, that is most definitely not electric. That’s the GranTurismo sound surely.

So surely if it is electrification they wouldn’t be stupid enough to put that sound against the very first teasing public release of this?

Their twitter posts are going mad; all about today being the new era etc etc.

Hybrid might be ok if they do it right...

You'd hope not!

Below is more from Maserati on this cryptic message - a full electric Granturismo it is then

A message from Davide Grasso, Chief Executive Officer, Maserati –
“Today, 11th November, the future of Maserati has begun and I want to share the dawn of a new era with you.
Today, with the end of production of Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio, work begins in the Modena plant to update the production line that will deliver the eagerly-anticipated sports car.
Today, we unveil a celebratory GranTurismo, called Zéda, in anticipation of the arrival of a new GranTurismo, the first full electric Maserati. This unique model, tells the story of the dawn of a new era through colours and materials.
Today we open the doors of the Maserati Innovation Lab in via Emilia Ovest in Modena, the beating heart of innovation and development of our Brand.
Today we inaugurate the new, next-generation Dynamic Simulator, a cutting-edge tool that assists our engineers in the development of all new Maserati models.
Today we are sending a special “Save the Date” for May 2020 when Maserati will take centre stage worldwide.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it”, Abraham Lincoln.
The future of Maserati depends on us, on the Maserati family of which you are an integral member.
On our passion, on our energy and our creativity, on the same values which inspired the Maserati brothers over 105 years ago and which I see every day in our worldwide sales network.
We are laying the foundation stone of our future and we are doing it together.
Thank you for being part of the Maserati family.”

-----SNIP-----

I'm not sure that's what they're talking about. The email is specifically pointing to a May launch date next year. A new GT I'd guess is more than a year away. I'm still guessing mid-engined petrol supercar because why not dream!

I saw the same message Stuart posted, my take on the "Today, we unveil a celebratory GranTurismo, called Zéda, in anticipation of the arrival of a new GranTurismo, the first full electric Maserati" is there will not be a new GranTurismo next May, but the rumours were a Ghibli hybrid (as already said) next year.
The new 'Battery Hub' at Mirafiori is not due for completion until mid-2020. So, wonder where the batteries will come from for any early models?

Why use a noise like that to advertise your new all electric car. Surely they are paying some advertising firm for this stuff and that’s a poor move

The electronic exhaust sound in sport mode of my Ghibli diesel produces a pretty convincing sound of a V8. It has certainly fooled a few people. In the future it will all be electronic sound generators.
