Well maybe they could start rebuilding the bridges with Signor Panini, he's by far has the largest collection of Maseratis. He takes all of his to an independent.

This is good news, I only hope it covers the 3200 and Bi turbo range so we can keep using these cars.

Long overdue, but they say:

"Certification, provided by an in-house committee of experts, will be available for Maserati road cars more than 20 years old and for special editions, including recent models such as the MC12 or Quattroporte limited editions, regardless of age"

So will they apply the same criteria to the support of later Maseratis? Can Mr Collina clarify perchance?

Part of cynical me is Maserati thinking 'lets make some money by screwing owners of older cars.....'

That was my first thought, great that they plan on providing a parts service for older models, but what's the damage? Guess we will have to wait and see.

Does this mean they will remanufacture all the parts that are no longer available? After having to source a couple of bits from a breaker because they are no longer available, I'm all for keeping my car on the road but I expect the cost will be prohibitive.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, any “Classiche” department is there to make money out of low volume high value manufacturing of parts and rebuilds for high end clients. But if it means crankshafts or blocks and chains for 3200s or stopping people from having to scrape together parts for a bi-turbo then it’s a good thing.

I am more optimistic. If Maserati is to become the new Halo brand in the FCA portfolio following the sale of Ferrari, it needs both decent cars (MC20 and GT racing is a good start) and to keep the "heritage" alive. Don't forget that FCA always had two supercar brands - Ferrari was always the favoured child, and that one has left home!

As long as they don't force Indy's to stop making stuff to corner the market, pattern wishbones anyone? and dare I say it brake discs? We all know who made discs but could you buy any? Maybe being a bit paranoid there .
