I’m looking for a reasonably priced set of secondary decats, I’ve asked BennyD but haven’t heard back.

Decats from Larini, Fabspeed, etc cost more than the X Pipe, which I find weird considering there’s less metal per volume.

Benny won’t do de-cats, so that’s probably why you didn’t hear back.

I’m not surprised that the de-cats are more expensive, the material cost is a small part, the flanges need to be machined or bought and they are a bit more involved from a fabrication point of view.

I understand now, looks like I have to wait for a used set to pop up.

Benny also says that he modifies the backboxes to give more noise whilst retaining the valve, not sure what he does but I assume he removes some sound deadening in them.

Secondary decats are just one or two lengths of stainless pipe, any exhaust fabricator will have them.

There’s a lot more to it than that. The box is opened up and the standard internals are removed. The inlet is connected to the loud (valved) tail pipe with solid, not perforated pipe. Then a 1.5” hole is cut into this pipe and a perforated pipe is routed to the ’quiet’ side through the standard sound deadening. This gives a greater difference to the loud and quiet sides whilst retaining a standard appearance.

Do you also do this / can you do this / would you consider doing this for GT back boxes?

How much for this work? Though not sure my neighbours would thank me, as already run Sports cats with Euro headers, and just standard GS back boxes, as well as one of your X pipe's

I’ll let you know on that. FWIW, I may have a pair already done for you to try.
