Hi All

After some serious thought I have decided now is the time to let someone else have the pleasure of our manual Maserati 4200.

In my ownership it has been on a few UK road trips, taken through France for a family holiday between the lockdowns and I’ve completed many of the ‘big ticket’ items of repair and maintenance including:

New heater matrix.
Rust free replacement front subframe (4 wheel alignment checked today)
New front Discs (forum group buy ones) and pads.
Handbrake shoes.
New rear screen seal.
New oil pressure switch.

Oil pump replacement, which resulted in also replacing:
All O seals and gaskets on the oil pump and associated connections
Front timing covers joints and seals
Front crank seal
& Cam cover gaskets
Therefore no oil leaks!

Gearbox oil and filter change
New spark plugs
Thermostat
Engine oil and filter
Pollen filter
Air filter
Aux belt and tensioner

MOT’d today (23/11)
76k miles with lots of previous service history.
Drives fantastically

Negatives:
Although it presents well and straight, the paintwork is not the best on close inspection.
This for me would be the next stage for the car.
I am, however, much more enabled with the oily bits than I am cosmetics. Therefore I feel like I’ve done my bit making the car fighting mechanically, for someone else to enjoy improving the looks.

Car is located in Plymouth, Devon

£9000

Please send me a message for my phone number if you’re interested.

Thanks
Matt

I assume you mean no oil leaks?

Good luck with the sale, nice looking motor with all the nasty bits done.

She looks nice in the pictures and having had all that work done it really is a bargain.
If a Independent had done all that work it would be close to the asking price.

To be fair I’m probably under selling the way it looks, it does present ok when it’s nice and clean and it is pretty special to drive

This is of interest as quite fancy a manual 4200 although I've just shelled out most of my toy money on something else...

What is the situation with the suspension? I saw in the MOT history reference to potential leaking cylinder and some comments in your work thread about needing replacement? Sounds like replacement parts are particularly expensive when required too?

Are there any specialists in the Plymouth area who can carry out a PPI? Plymouth is something like a 4.5/5 hour journey from South London so not a trip I'd commit to lightly and a very long day if trying to journey both ways and inspect a car in the middle of that!

Hi, thanks for the interest.
The leaking shock picked ip on the MOT last year has been replaced.
Had a new clutch at 50k.
Yes parts prices can be a bit eye watering in some areas but surprisingly reasonable in others.
I suppose that’s what drives the value down, if they were cheap to maintain they would probably be more expensive to buy, maybe.

No specialists in this part of the country I’m afraid, even the main dealer that was in Exeter has bailed out, I believe.
