Hi Babster,
Its low miles but its a 4200 at Gransport money and although very late registered it could still be a much earlier Model Year car.
If the 4200 was superceeded in early 2004 by the gransport then whats a 2006 registered car in an earlier version doing existing? If its a 56 model then thats after sept 2006 i think so almost 2 years after the release of the gransport.
No..... go for the gransport its a far better car i am told by owners of the GS.

Sound advice there Gullible.......GS a better maserati experience and you might get one with a lowish mileage too!

P

PS......and if you do go for it....do get an indie inspection, even at its young years and mileage!

I may be mistaken but my understanding was that the Gransport was released alongside the Coupe and the two were sold in parallel. Therefore this could well be a 2006 car.

Babster, issue for you is, which car do you prefer, the Coupe, or the Gransport? Main visual differences vs your Coupe are the Gransport gained side skirts, a rear spoiler and sports seats. It was also lowered slightly, gained about 5 horsepower and the exhast has a valve that opens when sport button is activated. I am not sure that the suspension differed in any other way.

If you buy the Coupe it may depreciate a tad faster than the Gransport as most people looking for a 2006 model will opt for the Gransport.

So is it actually a (more subtle) Coupe you want, or a (sportier) Gransport. Test driving each may help the decision process.

If a Coupe this looks a good example (subject to inspection of course, as Frank counsels) but prices seem soft at present and you may be able to win it with a cheeky offer. 2005 Gransport with 50k are fetching circa £24k these days.

Happy hunting

Cheers

Thank you for all your advice, however there is no way were gunna get a GOOD GS with 14k on it for around £26000. Me personally I would rather have a GOOD, late car, low miles than a GS with say 40k on it for the same money.

The other thing to bear in mind is that often low mileage garage queens can be more troublesome than regularly used cars - all the more reason for a good long test drive and thorough independent inspection.

Agree with your logic though, higher mileage young Masers are proving very hard to shift - much less of an issue for you if you buy this example.

Also don't be put off by what people say about the lowly Coupe (I have a 2005 example), arguably it is the purer GT

Good luck.

Yes it was andy but that was just maserati getting rid of old stock as the 4200 was a factory unit and not as most people think "made to order".
If you have a stockpile then you have to sell them as cheaper alternatives to the newest models i guess.
The only thing bestpoke on a maserati is the options and this is tru today i am advised by maserati.
I would still rahter pay £25k for a gransport with 40k than the same for a 4200 with 14k..That car will never realise that price again even were some one to buy it today...Its just too much money.Take £5 grand off and you have a bargain...(if a 4200 is what you want)
Have you ever wondered why so many 4200 owners have there sights set on the Gransport??

The current GT is made to order but it doesn't stop dealers each having a few unregistered ones in stock.

Back on thread, that car would trade (not book) at c£21k so an offer around £23k should get it. However, lots of us 4200 owners have an unrealistic view of what these cars are worth. Let us know what happens.

PS Black on black is a bit marmite FWIW.

Agree BB...always a few stock cars floating around for showrooms and testers.....plus the odd cancelled order...... the market is quite unpredictable....low mileage, perfect cars are getting rare plus as it got older the quality aspect improved.

BB agree that 23k is about right for it......It's last inline of the 4200's with a good spec. When you see 2003 cars at 20k then this updated car is worth that. This car is far better than an early 4200 don't forget.
