Maserati 4200 Coupe Cambio Corsa
Reg2002
Mot 30th April
63k miles
1 owner last 9 years
Gorgeous Ferrari derived 4200cc V8 engine with chain driven camshafts and 6 speed paddle-shift gear change (or auto mode). Two keys and full documentation. Full leather upholstery and headlining. MOT to 30/04/2020 and only 461 miles since the test, just over 63K miles, comprehensive service history, owned by me since Feb 2010, no modifications and always garaged, wired for blue-tooth phone / iPod, only £325 pa road tax - just £5 more than a Tesla 75 and well worth it! I average 20-22 mpg. A great driving experience but life moves on and I regretfully need to let someone else enjoy the fun before the environmental fascists chain us all to milk floats! Viewing recommended and inspections welcomed. £9500 (Private number plate may be available separately) Please call me on 0117 947 5814

On the face it, a nice car. Sensible mileage, nice long current ownership, garaged, history, etc, all for under £10k. Is there a better Maser currently available for that money? Must be worth a look, especially for someone wanting to try Maser ownership without committing too deeply.

Lovely car... does not look like it needs much at all. 9 years under the same ownership is a reassuring feature!

Indeed it does look very nice. The interior looks nice but not a fan of the exterior colour personally.

It is a competitive and slow market out there. It is a decent chunk under what I am selling my facelift 4200 so should certainly appeal to some.

Looks like a nice cared for and looked after example. I would keep it and sell next spring when Boris has sorted the UK by then!

Talk about private registration being negotiable, but regular registration in photographs that are not recognised.
Are the photographs old ones before the private registration was put on the car?

It is now sold after a long wait and not for as much as I would have liked. Not as much interest shown as I would have expected. A few people came and saw, hummed and harred and didn't come back, several stupid offers through Auto Trader and a few people who arranged to view but never turned up and never apologised. I eventually sold it back to the dealer I had bought it from. I am afraid it had to go as I needed the garage space and I was not driving it so much any more. The last two photographs on here were old ones but the rest were current the car looked the same as when I first bought it. It was in very tidy condition. I see cars advertised for elevated sums but do they ever sell? Maybe a dealer can get the prices when finance and warranty are included but the odds seem stacked against the private seller. Private plate was removed and I'm in no rush to sell it but a very tasty offer for R30MEO might have me interested.

Rusty, I am literally baffled you couldn’t sell that car for that price; it’s actually quite shocking.
What are you replacing with?

Crazy. However..

I used to have an Alfa 159 Ti, 2.0 diesel. It was immaculate, and one of the most desirable 159 models if you wanted a diesel. Different kind of car, but still an Alfa. This took me 6 weeks to sell, with absolutely zero interest, until the first viewer came and took it away the same day for a good deal.

Now the problem with certain models and brands is I think the market exposure. Alfa and Maserati will have a limited market, it it really takes time to sell these cars. My buyer for the 159 it turned out was set on my car, and had his eye on it for a long time. He was just waiting to gather the money (private sale buyer issues) before contacting me. In this time I had reduced the price of the car considerably and he ended up getting a good deal but I know he would have paid a lot more for it. I didn't need to lower the price at all.

The problem is market exposure and you need to wait for the right buyer to come along, and this takes time. To the OP, it looks like you had your car on sale for around 7 weeks according to this thread? Probably wasn't long enough if you wanted a good amount for it, but obviously that didn't suit your situation.

For example, if I was in the market currently I would have been all over your car, but I won't be until next year probably. I think it's all about timing.

They're worth whatver you can get somebody to pay , I took the only offer I got for mine it was a lot less than that , running and driving but with faults I wasn't prepared to throw money at to fix.

It's a buyers market on private sales , they make an offer , it's then your decision.

I'm surprised anyone retails them at 17 years old, even if you've got 3k profit in it one fault can wipe that out pretty fast.
