I know this car has been posted before, but I’m interested in the collective view on:

https://www.hrowen.co.uk/used-car-details/used-maserati-granturismo-mc-stradale/id-30254123/

1) a fair price for a centennial with full Maserati service history, 19k miles, 50% clutch wear and 50% brake pads
2) likely value in 2 yrs time with roughly 25k miles
3) a sensible trade-in price for my GTS (2012, 36k miles, full history, med blu, etc...)

I’d also be interested to know if anyone else on here is currently in discussions on this car... I’m not looking to get into a bidding competition with a fellow SMer. Happy to discuss via PM...

Man maths assistant to the rescue!

Just buy it, you only live once!

I like the colour, saw one of these in the flesh and it’s pearlescent, looks great on a sunny day. I think the price is ok for a main dealer but I’d be wanting to get a couple of k off it. Nobody knows what it will be worth in the future but I’d be surprised to see a good condition centenary car at less than 50k, ever. The issue will be your trade in which they will try and steal from you. A 2012 GTS non facelift car is probably 40k retail for them, less for other traders. So don’t be surprised if it doesn’t even start with a 3. If you can, don’t trade it, sell privately or through Dicky and you’ll return more money.

It’s effing gorgeous. But you already know that. The red interior details are spot on with that exterior, and while I’m sure the paint colour won’t be to everyone’s taste, for me it shows off the lines of the car perfectly and makes it extremely special. I think in that colour it’d have to be a keeper.

I’ll leave it to wiser minds to comment on future values and so on, because I’m too busy drooling over at the HR Owen web site.

Not often I disagree with you but that colour is pants on such an iconic car. Even if I was in the market and had the cash I would walk on by..........lovely interior though

I think I agree with you. I have already suggested to the garage that my car, on their forecourt, and with the right prep, is probably a £39,500 sticker price, with a little bit of room to negotiate.

I also feel that £70ish k for the Strad, given the need to replace brakes, and probably the clutch, in the next two years ( at least before a resale) is a fair price...

Have already spoken to Dicky, and in the New Year I will need to work out how serious I and they are...!

Athol is right. You could steal it at the moment. Make a firm offer you are happy to pay (taking into account your trade) and stick to it.
I would be amazed if they didn’t try their best to make it work. You could get 4K off that I am sure. Been up for a while hasnt it?

This car looks great, may be the only centennial edition with that color. I would have gone for this car had I not bought Stu’s Stradale. I actually thought about trading in, but decided against it given the centennial edition is no different to a “normal” Stradale.

I would ask the dealer to include the clutch and brake replacement in it’s asking price, to be carried out free of charge upon request, or they could just give you a discount for the costs. Given the current market, they may be willing to do these with free Labour and just charge you the parts in the form of an up front discount.

Having owned a 2009 GTS for over 5 years, I lost just under 2800 per year ( ok, I did bought a set of Stradale wheels and sold my Neptune). That was fantastic from depreciation perspective, I think I have lost more on the new Range Rover Evoque. So, I can’t see how you would ever lose even 10k over the next 2 years.

I was actually trying to buy something different to the GTS, tried a Nissan GTR, it was soooo fast compared to the GranTurismo, but didn’t feel special and simply could not match the emotion and excitement I got from driving my GTS. I ended up looking at a GranTurismo again because I simply could not find a substitute, and Stu’s car came up at the right time.

There must be what, less than 40 or 50 Stradale Cetennial in the UK? They are very special cars indeed, so depreciation should be minimal if you are thinking of selling in 2 years. There probably would be many forum members wanting to get a Cetennial Stradale by then. Most importantly, as the others have said - go and buy it and enjoy the experience, you only live once!

As before that colour is stunning and if I was after a Stradale this is the one I would look at. Prefer the standard interior to the Centennial but at least it's black and not that garish white. Just do it.

I would be very surprised if there was anther in this colour. If this is the only one it's been for sale twice in the last couple years it my memory serves me right and this is the third time.

I think the Strad in this colour looks incredible and very very special. And I agree, now is likely to be a better time to get a deal done than the New Year. But what is the difference likely to be anyhow? £2-3k? If you love the car and can afford it, just do it. You could blow that much on a short holiday and have nothing to show for it afterwards but memories. It always surprises me how much we agonise over a few £k when it comes to a car purchase but in some cases think nothing of blowing similar amounts on other things.

Its your lucky day, as unfortunately my lottery win hasn't come in yet, so I'm out :too_sad:

We are all going to say yes but is it a good move? GranTurismo produced in large numbers and as you know many are now worth sub £30k or even sub £20k trade. Sure this is a special edition but put miles on it and that premium will disappear plus history will not be kind on the gearbox.

Just a contra view so now go and buy it!

Just buy it, you won’t regret it.

It’s got carbon ceramics so it’s only the pads you will need to replace. Clutches last 40k miles and don’t take too much notice of the clutch reading.

One thing you should do before you buy is have the gearbox TCU read and check the mileage (in KM’s) tallies with what is on the dash. I am sure it will but you should check it.

I think that’s a line for the negotiation, Bob, probably preceded by the sound of sucking teeth and a slight, almost imperceptible, turn of the upper body towards the showroom exit.

Jon, I checked with Mrs Crud to get a feminine opinion on the colour. When are we getting it?, she asked.

As others have said, the best deals are to be had now. RIght now. Moving cars at this time of year is hard, and with the clock ticking down to year-end any car dealer worth its salt will be bending over backwards to close a sale with you.

So, when are we getting it?

The Granturismo, whilst being a successful car for Maserati is relatively uncommon. Not properly rare, I agree, but compare to AM Vantage figures (the Aston Variants go on for pages, but this is the lot for Granturismo in the UK).
I think the Stradale is an interesting car with a lot going for it.

I’d agree with Bob’s answers except I might be a bit more optimistic on the value in 2 years due to the rarity of model and colour. So I’d go £60k for 2
