They will not give a Masersti warranty either with that car. It is due to the age. You will get some RAC 12 month cover only.

Standard practice. And the RAC warranty is riddled with wear n tear exclusions and the premium is built into the selling price.

This would not be a deal breaker for me, personally...With an inspection, you know what you're getting to start with.
The price is most definitely begging for a haggle in the current market though...!

Only serviced 4 times.

In a car that's covered 25K miles that equates to a service every 6K miles or so - one lady owner. Stacking up ok in my book !

At the right price, this could be a great buy frankly.
I do think that the leather bubbling is plain stupidity and lazy---All the better for the perspective buyer !

Alternatively, once every 3 years or so. Not what I would be looking for.

It will go very close to list subject to the steering wheel airbag being replaced. Modena know the market and what this low mileage example is worth. It will be supplied fully serviced and MOTd with a full inspection report.

The difference between private and dealer cars...?
A dealer will have to wear this against an independent PPI, which they would have to provide to get a sale at the top end. Because it probably is a good low mile example...but the holes in the history need proving, along with the tardy presentation...IMO.
Good for them taking the sale on..but poor show the slightly shabby presentation . They can afford to let it sit on the forecourt..? Also not ideal imo...:(

Back in the day main dealer would only Retail main dealer service cars and also not cars with SH gaps. These days some main dealers will not even guarantee their own cars despite retailing them.

If this is the type of price that Richard would charge for this car then it just indicates a new level playing field that will benefit specialists like Richard that stand by their prepped car standards. Other than that you are on your own with only reputation, PPI and paperwork for work to differentiate between the sellers.

Meridian can afford to keep this car as stock for years if they wish, they have plenty of space and the car will not deprecate as the miles/years will get lower each month.

They will find a buyer and it will be one with deep pockets who will not care too much about a missed service... it will just join their collection.

I do however struggle with a lack of services. If it had been done regularly it would have cost a few grand, but in return it would attract a higher asking price.

I have had three services on the GS in 3k miles.

Oh- I see...!

It’s not like they shouldn’t have a handle on current market either...
I have had around 10-15 offers declined on italian cars over the past 4 months. Almost all of them are still on the market - and some listed for considerably less that I offered. I don’t understand some dealers. In my experience the problem is the young wheeler dealers at the main dealers who don’t have the experience and like to be cocky- or the ones held to ransom by their unrealistic clients on SOR. I think any decent offer is fair game in this market. Not much seems to be moving unless keenly priced

If they are now advertising them at less than you offered, why wouldn’t you go back to them and buy one?

I was more generous in my appraisal but simply havent the eperience you have to base it on.
I figure dealers arent that up to speed with an uncommon marque like Maserati, and perhaps hang onto an inflated idea of value. It can be frustrating. As the choice grows more limited, the barrel you are over harder to disguise !
A Maserati specialist has nowhere to hide though. If it is a top end example, they should market it as such...

To some extent, I agree that a lack of service is an issue..
Oil needs changing every year IMO- regardless of miles. Otherwise, as long as it gets serviced before it is used, I cat see an issue...but it's starting to become speculation.
I think a PPI is essential...Which brings me to a lack of use...
If they want their cars to sit there, thats' their business. Doesnt do it for me, whilst I dont think it does much for the marque either...!

I keep coming back to the idea of the forum owned car up for sale. As afr as the 3200/4200/GS +, they oftentimes offer great value over a dealer purchase. :)

It’s easy to lambast dealers for being out of touch, but if the car is SOR then it is the owner who is unrealistic. I spoke to a German car specialist and he says people see an auction result for an absolute minter and presume that’s the going rate for their car, which is more often than not some way short of concours status or miles. Then they turn to the dealer and say ‘someone will fall in love with it’, ‘my mate wiggsy says this etc’. Seller sets a limit, unless it’s very close to the agreed price, why **** off the seller with something so far off. In this car’s case I may be wrong but it was up for £32k/34k until recently (rightly or wrongly is a separate point), so the seller has already taken a haircut to £30k. If this was a long term client, why upset them with an even lower figure?
So they just sit there for months on end. Same German car dealer also suggested it was cheap car storage for the sellers...

It’s very easy as punters to beat dealers with a stick, and while undoubtedly there are shady/stupid types out there, there are equally shady/stupid sellers out there...

Do main dealers do SOR these days on GS ? I would be surprised. Probably a px they picked up for a kick the owner in the b@lls low price.

If it didn't meet the reserve and "Passed" then they negotiated hard with the vendor and got a good deal on it. Probably £21k paid.
