Main dealer service history - is it important?

I'd agree with that ....don't see the point of going by the book strictly all the time especially on lower use lower miles cars. Sometimes also if it is t broke and doesn't need replacing I don't always see the point of replacing this for the sake of it that are working fine.

Of course consumables and wear items are different.

Absolutely, no point changing things for the sake of it. But you don’t have to tell them that!

We had a tour of the workshops when I bought from GC. They did have a Maserati service system ( computer etc etc ) but the service manager was moaning about the price of the updates, this was 2 or 3 years ago now. Their service price was very cheap for the first quote vs Mario or a dealer ( obvs. Vs a dealer).

LOL....very true!

I wonder how many times pollen filters etc. have been charged for but never changed.

Good
To cut through the unknown quality and compliance to schedule, why dont you agree a conditional sale based on a specialist indy PPI? Will cost around £300, but could answer the unknowns and give an independent view of the car on sale.
Good suggestion, was thinking exactly that, there is no way for me to proceed based on the salesman’s words.

To be fair there are very few that change the lambda sensors and charcoal canister every 4 years unless they have done high miles.
Exactly what the salesman told me, but I am worried about the lack of brake fluid change, no lambda sensor change, poly v belt ...etc as Zep had mentioned earlier

To be fair the easiest part of the service work is the fluid and poly belt changes and also the lowest cost.
Lambda sensors from a dealer on the other hand very expensive and I know as I was a technician for Maserati.

Good to see an x tech for Maserati actually driving a Maserati , my mechanic friend was a Vauxhall tech and drove everything but a Vauxhall .

Not really for me, unless it's a newish model that warrants it, and to be fair on an older model my motto is if you want it done right, do it yourself. I've found things that a specialist hasn't picked up on, obvious things like drop links.

Ewan says emblem charge £1200 inc vat for a standard service , if it costs that much money to service a 400bhp V8 naturally aspirated car why does a 5.0 420bhp V8 mustang cost considerably less to service at a Ford dealer , when I say considerably less I've just bought a 3 year 30,000 mile Ford protect service plan, 2 minors and a major , I can take it to any Ford dealer , also includes breakdown cover, £597 inc vat

I assume that's made up of 2 x £149 and 1x £299 , brake fluid is 2 years, coolant 10 years

What do they do to come up with £1200 , polish the inside of the engine

Labour rates, cost of diagnostic equipment, parts, training etc etc.

Ford dealers have all that to buy , it's not as if they're doing it out of the back of a van , the workshop of the dealer I bought the car from was immaculate , services use oil and filters mostly , Maserati manufacture neither of those

Agreed, and all of it is cheaper than what a high end prestige manufacturer charges for this.

Plus the hours spent. When Emblem serviced my GTS last year the technician was on the car for a full 8 hours. I suspect the Ford services are somewhat shorter? One could ask why Maseratis need so much time for a service but that's a different question.

So they can charge £1000 + vat

I've had a lot of cars over the years , I really can't see how they could spend a full 8 hours servicing a car , any car , that's a full day , all they're doing is checking things , any rectification will be an additional charge .
I'd love to see an 8 hour video of the service , there must be a lot of trips to the coffee machine and to chat the (always fit) receptionists up.
