Check David Howsons thread from about 18 months back (yellow 4200) he did it and has the knuckles to prove it.

Hi John

I very recently had my car in with Giallo to have the suspension and geometry set up done. It nows sits about 20mm lower - result is it feels so much better planted and stable. Visually he car looks much better too.

Highly recommend it. Call Mathew at Giallo - he's very helpful, knowledgable and enthusiastic.

Knuckles now healed! Just!!
I dont regret doing it for a moment - apart from the moment it scrapes over an extra large speed bump that is.
I think I went very low, but what the heck, it looks great and goes even better.

David - what is the distance from the centre of the wheel (or the top of the centre cap) to the wheel arch. Be interested to compare.

What did you do to lower the car?

I think the average drop is about 15mm, measuring from the top centre of the wheel arch to the floor..!! The suspension winds down on each suspension leg, it has a large threaded section which can be wound down when not under load, so you would need spring compressors ideally..!! Check the measurements before you start on each wheel, just so that you can get each corner even..!! The fronts are a bit more difficult due to a lack of space..!!

From the wheel arch to the top of the centre cap is 32mm front and 34mm rear. It's approx as the tape measure has to bend slightly round the curve of the wheel.
Please post what yours measures, just out of interest.
I just lowered the spring bed by 20 turns or so. I think it dropped about 1.5" at that.

I've measured the same from the top of the centre cap to the wheel arch - front wheel gap is 33.5cm and rear wheel gap is 32.7cm.

Visually it has made a difference, looks a little lower slung, a small change but an improvement I think.

It would probably look even better if it was lower at the front. More of a sports car look rather than a 70s Escort Lombard rally car look!

Robert - your right. I'm no good with this new fangled metric system. Knew I should have measured it in inches!

I have to agree about lowering the front more than the rear, it does give the car a nice stance even if it's only by a few mm (3/8")

Robert do you have a photo of the car from the side you can post - be good to see how it looks! Simon

Running a bit of rake can help with the stability of the car. As a point of interest we always run a bit of rake on the race car.

The difference between front and back is just over 5mm so the car looks very flat. It was set up by Giallo who have a lot of experience with this and I'm sure know the best set up.

Would be interesting for a few Gransport owners to check and report back on the gap on there cars for comparison.

Robert, I assume that's been done properly. It looks a bit jacked to my eyes, and I really hope the front wheel looks like that due to the angle :)

Not *too* high, just an air of a hot rod with the back *looking* higher than the front. I suspect it's just a trick of the photo :)

Lovely looking car, Robert.
