Have just purchased a unit from Loudlink. At this stage Im ready to put the unit in the crusher. Cant find the Firmware update [ 2.5.x.x ] and nothing I try arranging the SD card works. Im no computer expert but I understood it was a plug and play unit. The car doesnt recognise the unit and the light on the unit just flashes blue for a while then goes out. The car is a 2002 4200 coupe and it has the CD changer in the boot so it was just a case of unplugging and plugging in I thought. What to do next?

I know on mine a few years ago the flash would only work on a low density (under 2gb) SD card. I can’t believe that would still be the case but you may want to check. Their email support used to be good but that was 7 years ago.

2GB was the limit in the Spyder and I found firmware upgrades were best from an old windows laptop I had but once done it was fine. Could change tracks from a proper computer once it was setup

I bought an old style one a year ago and the instructions said 2GB maximum SD card, struggled to find firmware upgrade fro my version, eventually managed to contact loudlink who gave me details of appropriate upgrade, still couldn't get car to recognise it and gave up in the end, just have V8 music to listen to!!

I think the new units arnt limited on card size. I have sound now but setting the card up seems to be the next problem. At least Im moving forward. V8 music is best but keeping it pulling at 7000 RPM all the time is frought with danger.

Hey rusty iron, could you explain exactly what is going wrong/what you are doing?

To download the correct firmware click this link: http://loudlink.eu/download/fw/LLK-UNIBLUE/loudlinkfirmwares.zip

Within the .zip file you will find a folder labelled: V25xx-AlfaFiatLancia(BLAUPUNKT)-Maserati and use the .hex file within folder V2533

Assuming you are using the bluetooth version follow the install instructions, according to the .pdf file:

Simply copy fw.hex file to empty formatted SD card. Insert the card when LED is off. After few seconds of toggling LED, update will finish. Loudlink will go to stand-by again. OR Simply copy fw.hex file to empty formatted SD card. Insert the card while Loudlink disconnected from cable. Connect Loudlink to cable. After few seconds of toggling LED, update will finish. Loudlink will go to stand-by again.

Or

Simply copy fw.hex file to empty formatted SD card. Insert the card while Loudlink disconnected from cable. Connect Loudlink to cable. After few seconds of toggling LED, update will finish. Loudlink will go to stand-by again.

I struggled with the update as I was using the wrong version without even realising, if you keep struggling then maybe contact Arnold at Loudlink

Mine is a non Bluetooth model but I have managed to load the correct Firmware I think. It took a while but I managed to find the V2533 folder etc. I have had it playing music so I think all I have to do now is understand how to set up the SD card and how to move around in it. Im slowly getting there. The crusher isn't going to get it just yet. Thanks for the help.

Got the system working. Think I was making it too complicated for myself. KISS principle was needed. Cant wait for the weather to improve to take it for a run now.

Hi all.

I've got the same problem as rusty iron had. I've a 4200 GT and a Loudlink with Bluetooth. I updated the firmware using a 1GB SD card and the fw.hex file (V2533) according to the instructions. The Bluetooth is working correctly as it will control the Loudlink from the head unit, e.g. next track, previous track, play, pause etc. and music comes through the speakers as expected.

I put some music files on the SD card, by having 5 directories called 'CD1' CD2' etc. on the SD card and some tracks on each 'CD'. The player will only play tracks from 'CD1' unless I select random play then it will play from he other CDs randomly. I also tried putting music on formatted 4GB and 64GB cards but the Loudlink wouldn't see anything. Does anyone have a definitive view about the format each 'disc' should have and is there a restriction on disc and file names? Is there any documentation available on how to operate the unit?

It's not super important that I get it to work as I can get by with the Bluetooth, but it would be nice to have the option to put all my music on it without clogging up my phone.

Before anyone suggests contacting Arnold, I did try several months ago and heard nothing back. I think he must be busy developing new models for more recent cars now. :)

Thanks everyone.

I have the Loudlink, but I find it slightly frustrating since my iPhone never pairs automatically and I find the selection methods clunky and easily forgotten. Might put the CD changer back...

Thread revival....

I’ve recently bought a non-SD Loudlink for my 2003 4200, which plugs in to the CD changer cable in the boot no problem and I was immediately able pair it with my iPhone and play music through the car sound system.

However, the Bluetooth signal seems a bit faint and the music was cutting in and out, no doubt because there’s the rear bulkhead and quite a bit of car between the Loudlink box and my iPhone in the cabin.

Is it possible to splice into the CD changer cable somewhere in the cabin perhaps? Or can it be plugged directly into the back of the NIT using the cable supplied with the Loudlink?

Excellent, thanks for confirming. I’ve found the thread with the details on how to access/remove the DIT, so will give it a go tomorrow.

You may well find it doesn't improve things that much. Depends on what chipset is in use IME. My iPhone drops from my Bose headset and my Parrot on occasion. Basically never from my Bose Soundlink.

Never does it with my loudlink and various phones I have used. Mine has been buried in the centre console and currently in the dash
