As the title says really. I need a new compressor, but don't have a part number, just digging around to get some more info, or maybe someone even has one knocking about?! Thanks.

In the 1960s Maserati we’re the air horn people by the 1980s it was FIAMM. There all much of a muchness the only really difference is how many horns they supply air to, usually it’s two. I’m sure there’s an actual part number on eurospares but I bet it’s a generic one. If you look the compressor it’ll have a model. Eg
104075

If they’re silly money just get a modern one for £40.

Thanks! That's really helpful. I've had a look and they are around £300 to £500 for NOS FIAMM kits, which is pretty steep!

I'd like it to be correct, but at that price I might just get a good quality modern air horn.

I wonder if you can repair it? The older ones are an electric motor and a vane type compressor. There’s no rubber seals so it’s either the motor or something has seized or something has worn.

Found a photo off the net. The Maserati one ive repaired in the past was just like this. The vanes were stuck. The rotor is offset and the vanes are free to move in the slot so a bit of corrosion and they just stopped the motor.104079104080

Thanks Oneball. I might get a horn for now so I can use the car, but get the workshop to keep the old one then I'll pull it apart and see if I can fix it.

Just a question. Were airhorns fitted as standard to Gran Turismo's or are they all after market?

I've got two sets of Maserati air horns here in France one set I brought back from NZ and the other were on my 75 Renault 16 didn't realise they were worth good money.

Bought this used one and think seller has more. Price being fair. Is the original Fiamm version on Ghibli II. All worked what I received

Even when behind the fender and nobody sees it; go for the original now you still can and avoid as long as possible cheap ‘Alibaba’ substitutes

I recently serviced my FIAMM unit, very simple piece of kit as long as the motor turns freely. just take out the vanes , clean all the rust and muck out and put plenty vaseline or moly grease so they move freely.

My motor was fine, but if its stuck it might be just muck. It has sliding bearings I recall so not that nice to rebuild, but if its stiff you can try to put gun oil to motor shaft ends and see if it comes loose again.
