Looking for a specific Coupe

ESP applies the brakes as well as cutting power which as it’s a basic system brings everything to an abrupt stop whereas TC just limits the amount of wheel spin but allows some slip angles.

My GS qualifies for your criteria but I don't want to sell it!
I hadn't realised it was rare to be low tax and also ULEZ - I don't live in London or anywhere near so don't care :)

I would say however, I would not buy a CC car to drive in London. The system works well when you can drive at 6/7 tenths and up, it is good for that. In traffic and parking it is flat out bad. For your budget and use case a Jag XKR would be better I'd say (if they are ULEZ, don't know).

Sounds like the ideal car - it's a keeper!

A Jag XKR appeals but it doesn't have 4 proper seats like the Mas. I know this from having done a very short journey at the back of a XK once!

I'm in SW London and would only drive it out to the South at weekends so I'm not too worried about the CC. Having driven Selespeeds regularly I'm accustomed to how bad it can be. And while the CCs with my criteria are rare, the manuals are pretty much non-existent!

The GS wouldn't be my first choice but if you ever think of selling yours though, let me know ;)

I have since spoken to the dealer selling this car, a 56 plate CC https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1618154

He wasn't completely transparent about how long it has been for sale - 2 years according to my research - and it was last serviced 3 years ago. Also has a pair of Zeta Alventi tyres which he tried to sell as "decent tyres", all of which put me off. Shame as the last 7 MOTs are advisory-free and it has interesting retrofit sat nav + sunroof (!).

I am still keen on a nice 55 onwards reg CC which ticks the right boxes and I appreciate the budget is likely to be £12-14k. If you can think of one let me know!

Not expensive for a 56 plate and surely could be made a decent car if a deal could be agreed ?

Sunroof!
Bet that is actually quite nice.
Decades ago was quite common to cut in a glass sunroof.
Remember my Dad having a rather nice one fitted to his new Rover SD1, but that thinking about it, would have been nearly 50 years ago!!

My Med blue on black GS with 47k on the clock will be for sale in the next few months, excellent service history and previous owners of well regarded specialist garages.

I pulled the trigger on a ’55 plate CC last Friday. 73k miles, silver over black leather, fully loaded (cruise, sensors, xenons, etc.), and both low tax and ULEZ-friendly, which was key for me.

Already covered 300 miles and so far so good. Interior needs work: saggy headliner and sticky buttons, though the leather is excellent for the mileage. Exterior is near perfect, just a loose rear bumper grille.

No PPI, but it had ~23% clutch wear in June, has a full history, and had spark plugs plus accessory belt done last year. Needs two rear tyres, and I’ll book a post-purchase check for peace of mind. It's a risk, but it looks to have been well maintained.

Questions:

- Any recommended businesses to fix the saggy fabric headliner? Seller quoted £350 but up North.

- Any tried-and-tested fixes for sticky media buttons? Elbow Grease worked on a 3200 on Richard Hammond’s show.

- Post-purchase inspection/service recommendations near SW London/A3? Autofficina is obvious but pricey. I go to the IOW a few times a year so could drop it off en route.

- Anything else worth checking immediately?

Couple of pics from Southside Common yesterday, where a few other owners welcomed me. Delighted to finally join the club

If on the way to the IOW drop round to Matt who owns this forum. They can do the PPI for you... they have done a couple for me and at a very reasonable price.

I had that car around 13 years back. I saw it advertised in the trade the other day. I bought if from ex Leeds Utd centre half Jon Newsome.
